I suppose it was for the best that all this was kept in a nice cozy vault. If worse came to worse and my colony was raided, I could try to fit everyone in here to keep them safe. I headed back out of the vault and to my home to see if there were any matters I had to attend to. |

There's a squire awaiting by your door, arguing with the two guards from this morning. |

"What are you three yelling about?" I ask, approaching the squire and guards. |
The squire sighs as he sees you approaches.
"Ah, excuse me sire," he says, bowing, "I was just telling your guards I needed to get into your longhouse to deliver some messages." |

"Don't bother messengers anymore," I say to the two guards, before turning my attention back to the squire, "what are the messages?" |
"Sire, a noble has planned a trip to our settlement, as well as King Galve sending fifty troops for our garrison." |

"What does a noble want to come here for?" I ask. I was never fond of talking to nobles. All they wanted to chat about was politics and how nice the chairs were. Of course, the troops being sent by Galve were something I wouldn't complain about. |
"He's coming for a monthly checkup and tax return on the settlement." the squire says. |

Taxes? Well, I could probably pay up with some stuff from the vault. Speaking of the vault, if that noble sees inside the vault, he'll probably raise the taxes thinking we're wealthy here. And that monthly checkup? What's he going to think about Kederath and that barbarian?
"When will he be arriving?" |
"Six days top. His carriage is moving fast and it's been only clean roads from the nearest town." the squire says. |

"Okay, tell the guards at the vault not to let that noble in there, then let Kederath know about the noble in case she doesn't want to be seen by him." |

As you begin to wade through your settlement, you see the shops have been decorated with intricate logos and name pattern that overhand over to the street from their perch on the side of the building. Flowerbeds now decorate the inside of the path separated from the street to the buildings by cobblestone walls.
As you walk further towards the market square, a steel cage drawn by a wooden cart with a lead of two Hanoverian horses and a plump trader with fine clothing and a flat cap with a brown and blue plume emerging from it. The cart has multiple crates and bedrolls and such in it.
Upon closer inspection of the steel cage, you notice it's a streak consisting of two baby tigers. |

Looks like they've decorated and built up fast. Good to know I have hard-working citizens living here. That trader though, what's he doing with those animals.
"You there!" I call out to the trader as I approach him "what are those tigers for? I don't remember ordering any tigers." |
The trader scoffs himself with a slice of cheese before you walk over. He coughs before he speaks to you, you hear the cheese still rolling down his throat as he begins to speak.
"We captured these feral animals off the coast of the Mearah Jungle. We domesticated them and you were the nearest settlement. We're here to sell them. Interested?" |

Domesticating tigers? I had no idea that was even possible.
"What would I need baby tigers for?" |
It is when they're small and able to be manipulated to different spheres of influence.
"Grow them strong and loyal. Great companions, these'd be." the trader says. |

I kneel down beside the cage to examine the tigers further.
"A bit young though. How many years do you think I'll need to take care of them before they're grown up enough to be of use?" I ask the merchant. |
"About another year." he says. |

"Not too long then. What do they eat?" |
"Mostly meats. I have a lot of ratwolf jerky if you're willing to buy it." |

Tigers on my side. If they're loyal and truly domesticated, then they'll be of great use to me. Making sure they're loyal will be my job if I choose to buy them. I look away from the tigers and at the merchant.
"What gender are they, how much do you want for them, and how much do you want for the jerky?" |
"The one there on the left with the scar over the right eye is a girl. The one on the right is a boy. I'm selling them both at 600 fevi and a month-long supply of jerky is 1,200 fevi." |

I nod in understanding.
"I'll check on our treasury and be back with an answer," I say, heading to the vault to ask the refugees how much fevi we have stored up in the vault. |
You have 10,000 fevi in broad and 86,592 fevi in goods. |
