The Maximum Ride series
First off, the book pulled off my biggest pet peeve that I didn't even know I had until I read it. When Max is in the room, the book is told in 1st person from her perspective, when she isn't, it's told in 3rd person omniscient, what kind of lazy, cop out writing is that?
And then there's the story, it starts off pretty cool about a bunch of genetically modified kids being chased down by the government, including family drama, betrayal by your parents, and trying to find a family. That's the good part, and it draws you in, but then, it slowly turns into this incredibly preachy environmentalist book paired with a teen romance story that borders on Twilight level. |
