Due to my visit in Newcastle I missed two lessons which was the introduction to trigonometry. Anyone who knows how to solve this?

Translation:
The triangle ABC is given according the figure. Calculate the length of the side AC.
Preferably step by step how you solve it would be nice.

No and the fact that I have a constant headache due to my eyes being strained constantly does not help me study but I need to get this stuff over with. Got my math test on Friday.

sin a divided by line A = sin b divided by line B = sin c divided by line C
you know that angle c is 86 degrees
sin(86)/AB(which is 6.6) = sin(42)/AC
get calculator plz |

AB is 6.6 to clarify |

C/sin C = B/sin B
First you need to find the top angle, it is 180-92 = 88
Now you substitute it in
6.6 / sin (88) = x / sin(42). [x being AC]
Now re arrange the forumla,
sin(42) times 6.6/sin(88)
That should give you the answer. |

Agent, it's the opposite. |

180 - 52 - 42 = 86 degrees
That's the third angle.
One formula of the triangle is
a/sin A = b/sin B
where a is a side and A is its corresponding angle
and b is a side and B is its corresponding angle
let's say AB is a
and AC is b
because you want to calculate AC
so
a = 6.6
A (the angle corresponding) = 86 degrees
b = ?
B (The angle corresponding) = 42 degrees
plug and play
6.6/sin 86 = b/sin 42
cross multiply
6.6 * sin 42 / sin 86 = b
b = 4.427

o ur right its the opposite |

Pyrante you"re right about the angles but wrong about the rearranging.
You want the AB or x to be alone. |

You can only do trig with a right-angled trinagle, for a start.
You will need to do pythag in order to do the trig. |

no i'm not.
it's just cross multiplication
i must've gotten one of the angles wrong though.

You are doing equals to, not times by.
Re arranging the forumla makes it easier. |
