If you noticed, when you hold down A and D, you just remain still. If you're involved in a lot of gun fighting or sword fighting, you can honestly tell that this is HANDS DOWN the most annoying update. I literally have to spam my fingers just to move myself, rather than playing smoothly as I did before. Please remove this update, but I will give you credit for the amazing new dynamic lighting/shadow update, makes the place stand out more. If a Mod doesn't reply to this, I'm reposting tomorrow.

I don't really play fighting games so much and I keep developing my games. But if people really think this is annoying I wouldn't mind.

Yes, this is WNTS, but I agree. It makes my keyboard movements seem clunky and unresponsive.

Support, dumb update, I can hardly fight anymore. When life gives you lemons, you take those lemons and burn your neighbors house down!

If this is the reason why when I spam W and S in first person or with mouselock on and glide sideways without pressing A and D, I totally support this, it is really annoying. - [ 111, 7 Year Veteran ] -

Bumping this.

Don't bump. It's supposed to be like that. You can't go in two directions at once, that's what makes sense. Anyone who says otherwise should learn about the basic physics concept "net force."

"Don't bump. It's supposed to be like that. You can't go in two directions at once, that's what makes sense. Anyone who says otherwise should learn about the basic physics concept "net force."" It's been a while since I've actually played Roblox, but I believe that it used to work like this. If you pressed a movement key, for example A, and then pressed the opposing movement key (D), you'd go in the direction of D. From a physics standpoint, it doesn't make sense. Of course. Thing is, this isn't about physics, but about gameplay. When you are fighting, be it with guns or swords or whatever, you want to remain mobile. The old system allowed you to smoothly transition in the opposite direction. The new system (apparently) doesn't do that, instead making the character stop in its tracks. It's kind of clunky, and at the very least mildly annoying because muscle memory. So yeah, it should probably be changed back, or on the off chance that it's actually a bug, be fixed.

So you're saying you can't move left and right at the same time? Isn't that the laws of physics?

@above Literally exactly what I said a few comments up. Two equal forces going in opposite directions create zero net force, a state of equilibrium.

"So you're saying you can't move left and right at the same time? Isn't that the laws of physics?" No. Basically, if you pressed A first and, while holding A, pressed D, A would be overridden by D. So instead of going from moving to the left to standing still, you'd instead start moving to the right. It just makes going back and forth less clunky.

@deltav Well why continue holding A if you want to press D?

I just tried it out, you stop moving if you hold two opposite keys. It's a very subtle change, but it feels off and I can see how it might feel clunky in combat.

it personally doesn't affect me because i play TBOI a lot, and the physics are like that but yeah, this can be a huge nuisance for the war/fighting/whatever community support

"Well why continue holding A if you want to press D?" Of course you wouldn't be holding A all the time if you want to go in the D direction, that's silly. However, when changing directions its possible that at some point you are holding down both keys. This makes you stop moving, which can become frustrating if you are trying to do things that require you to not stop moving.

Support. Quickscoping on Phantom Forces was so easy until the movement update screwed it up. Full support.

"Well that's where dexterity comes in" From a design perspective, it's still better to revert it, because it's fairly clunky otherwise.

The update cannot be removed... but it can be patched. "To deny one's humanity is to follow the same fate."
