I would be disliked and shunned by my family for the rest of my life but A&M and State are the only two colleges that have the major I want to focus on And I'm not sure my parents would be up for paying out-of-state tuition so I can go to the University of Washington (which is 5x more prestigious and rigorous than A&M and 20x more than Texas State) My mom also knows plenty of people that can get me hooked up with A&M, although I am doing a paid internship with UT next school year and I'm going to try to get to know some of the dudes there

You don't have to be a sports junkie to hate A&M (and the other way around) They actually cooperate academically but Aggies and Longhorns dislike each other anyway

But my family used to watch the Lone Star Showdown when A&M and UT played each other every Thanksgiving and we'd always pick on my cousin (that only a few others like anyway)

"Aggies and Longhorns dislike each other anyway" Yes, I know, and what I meant is they must be sports junkies if they would not support you in going to a good college because of the sports rivalry. ᗩᘉᓰᗰᗩ☂ᕮↁᗪᗩᘉᘉϒ〇

"Yes, I know, and what I meant is they must be sports junkies if they would not support you in going to a good college because of the sports rivalry." 1) That's not even the main reason. Literally all of my family besides one person went to the University of Texas. My parents are stuck on tradition and following the family's path 2) UT is a better school (in most fields) than A&M anyway

"Yes, I know, and what I meant is they must be sports junkies if they would not support you in going to a good college because of the sports rivalry." it goes beyond that college legacies are important here I know some people whose families have 6 generations at A&M, but they got rejected while getting into SMU, Baylor, and Tech and chose to go to A&M-Galveston or Blinn instead to try to transfer into A&M

"That's not even the main reason. Literally all of my family besides one person went to the University of Texas. My parents are stuck on tradition and following the family's path" Okay. "UT is a better school (in most fields) than A&M anyway" You probably already explained this, but I don't feel like going back and reading it. Why are you going to A&M over University of Texas? ᗩᘉᓰᗰᗩ☂ᕮↁᗪᗩᘉᘉϒ〇

"Why are you going to A&M over University of Texas?" City/Urban Planning is not offered at the University of Texas Only at Texas A&M and Texas State

Is there any problem with going to Texas state?

I mean, I could easily make into Texas State with an SAT scholarship and a few grants lol but I kind of want to go somewhere with a heavier weight on your back

"Is there any problem with going to Texas state?" My dad literally wants me to be a Bobcat if not a Longhorn because he went to Texas State for two years and does not want me setting foot over in College Station. He wants me in San Marcos because it's a cheaper option, easier to succeed there, and it's not A&M.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with that. I actually think that is the best thing about it. Just throwing in my 2¢

I mean, Texas State is improving at a pretty nice rate, so by 2017-18 when I start my higher education it will be pretty decent
