Like ProBoards, maybe you could have the ability to say @UsernameHere and it'll tag that player in your post making their name in the thread Clickable leading to their profile and they receive a message telling them they were tagged in it and a link to the thread.

There could be another type of "flood checks" for the rate you can tag someone.

user can turn tags off if they so please, and blocking players also prevents tags.
