Good afternoon,
My name is bill52600, and today I am announcing candidacy for Mayor of the City of Norfolk.
Rockport and TRC is falling. There is absolutely no doubt about that, and I think a lot of people have reached a consensus on it. However, I would like to bring my skills in government, public relations, and overall sense of order to the City of Norfolk. I have worked in multiple governments on ROBLOX, and also participate in government-related activities outside of ROBLOX like Student Council and Congressional Debate.
However, this isn't about experience. This isn't about Rockport, or USA, or any group I'm in or have been in. This is about the vision that the people of Norfolk want to fulfill. This is about WHO will fulfill that vision, and ultimately safeguard it for generations to come. I believe as a Citizen that I can fulfill that vision, because I don't have the confidence that others will. I will leave my speech at that.

In reality, the Municipal structure of local government is essentially when the primary government, usually State or Federal, doesn't have the correct role, authority, or expectations to intervene. Local government is primarily used for things directly effecting the Citizens. For example, how close your garbage can should be to the curb, or holding a yard sale and getting a permit for it. These are just some of the little things Local government does for a city, village, or town. Local government doesn't step in on things like gun control and religious laws, mainly due to the fact they are brought to the table as a State or National problem.
However, Municipal government does moderate HOW they administer these laws, instead. They control their police force, their fire code, etc. They decide what is best for putting these laws out in the best way while still staying in the boundaries of the law itself. It is up to the Local government to decide because the State and Federal governments don't have the time or business in regulating it themselves. Municipal government adjusts it accordingly to their crime rate, their geography, their funding, etc. They take what the need, and prioritize bumping up the police force over giving out free recycling bins. Local government is also tasked with making sure that businesses run securely, and that they are performing their duties in a legal manner for the safety of themselves and the Citizens.
In all, Municipal government is there to care for the Citizens and adjust practices to how they need to operate. Whether it be Education, Law Enforcement, or Parks & Recreation, Local government will be there to take care of it all for the Citizens who elected them.

@Rolerain | I'd likely be making only 1 department during my entire term, 2 at most.
Additionally, I will NOT seek re-election if I complete a full term.

I agree Norfolk needs someone to start Norfolk and help it get on its feet, but you are definitely not the person.. You ruined Rockport, and we don't need you to ruin Norfolk as well..

Shmee, why do you have to keep hating on everything I do or post?
You need to recognize the fact that just because I fired you in Rockport, it was because you were extremely inactive and did NOTHING. And as I said in my speech, Rockport is NOT a factor in this election.
You need to get over the fact you couldn't hold onto a job, because now at this point it's going to start biting you back. You were removed for the improvement of the entire structure, and it's something you need to realize.

@meto | One big thing I'd likely have is either a commerce department or a trade liaison. Both would help businesses owned by Citizens into Norfolk City, putting them before other big ones outside of it. |
