This guide will be divided to a number of chapters, each covering a topic/area of ability that is from my perspective of course. 1. Volleying. Positioning is key! If you are on the spot where the ball will land, you've a much better chance of hitting the ball without jumping. Simply getting infront of your attacker/defender won't help and will most likely have the ball just go over your head. Getting behind the trajectory of the ball makes it easier as well. Clicking with both mice buttons and using the header will greatly increase your chance lf hitting the ball, whether it goes below your head (your two feet will hit it) or over your torso (your head will hit it, provided the ball isn't too high up) Keeping your eyes on the ball is another key factor losing the trajectory of the ball pretty much makes your focus depleted and your target. 2. Dribbling Dribble away from your defender! This doesn't just make it hard for the defenders to tackle the ball away, but also gives your teammates space to run forward to and get open in after you distract the man covering the space you're dribbling in. Always use X, or rainbow! Close control is key, losing the ball lets the opposition go on the counter. 3. Movement and Runs Don't stand in one spot. Standing in one spot makes it easier for your marker to intercept and predict where the pass will be sent should your teammate pass to you, if your teammate passes it straight to you, follow it. Look for gaps! If your teammate takes the defender covering the right flank and you're on the center, move into the right flank and use the space that the defender leaves. Get behind your defender if you're in the wing. This makes it easier for you to receive through balls and thus give you more space and time to decide what you could do when you have the ball. When someone's on the wing, don't just stand on one spot but rather either go forward to receive an early cross and head it (crosses that you aren't behind the trajectory of are harder to intercept as I mentioned earlier in Volleying.) or go backwards to get a pull back or a low cross. 4. Passing. Look at how the defender is positioned. If your target's marker is infront of your man, send the pass ahead of your teammate, ot where they want to be,mnot straight to him/her (use space). However, if the marker is behind your teammate, just simply pass it to your teammate. Crossing; what frustrates me the most. If your teammate's marker is behind, either send him/her a low or high cross (early cross) ahead of him. If he/she is behind, then pull it back with a low cross. If your teammate crosses it straight to you and your marker is infront of you, try to slip off of him/her, this is much easier to do than try to win a header that is going straight to your defender, and if you get lucky you might get a free header. 5. Defending Always use both the mice buttons, the header and E. This way your attacker can't bring the ball over you, under you or around you unless if you fall for a feint. Anticipate, predict where or what your attacker is doing. Always stay infront of them, and don't commit yourself, be cautious. If the ball handler makes a heavy touch (for example he dribbles by clicking with dribble) apply pressure, those are very easy to tackle unless if the attacker knows a common ball control lag skill. As for marking, stay on level with your attacker, dont be ahead or behind of them. 6. Shooting On 1v1s against the keeper, never click with the dribble tool, unless if you're doing a lag skill (which is ill-advised) rather you should just shoot the ball in. The positioning of the keeper determines where you should shoot. However facing where your shooting before you even shoot makes it easy for the goalkeeper to predict where you're placing the shot. Always look for the easier option and never round the keeper. Rounding the keeper is a big risk for a chance to score. 7. Goalkeeping Anticipate. If your shooter is facing towards your near post before they shoot move slightly to your near post. However if your shooter adapts to this and starts using feints, you're screwed. Rushing out; if your shooter makes a heavy touch (dribbles by clicking with the dribble tool) pressure them (this only works if they do it from the edge of the box). For longshots, get behind the trajectory of the ball. And use every button you can. For positioning; stay in the center if your attacker is threatening you from the middle. If it's from the wings, cover the post adjacent to the wing. If an attacker gets through your defense but some or one defender is covering a part of your net, then don't stay at the middle.
