Yes this is long. It kind of HAS to be. Most things aren't mentioned here because they are COMMON SENSE. Terminology: Free hit: What it says on the tin. 23: The quarter of the pitch closest to the goal, is the 23 that end. 16: A hit from the edge of the D. D: The semicircle/Box outside the goal. Long Corner/LC. A hit from the mark along the side line. Penalty Corner/PC: A hit from the SECOND Mark from the goal on the goal line, half of a team -1 (rounded up if decimal) players can defend (Or just the goalkeeper) (So if 5v5, 2, based in the GOAL, they can run out after the ball has been passed to start. One attacker takes, the rest of the defenders stand behind centre line, the rest of the attackers can be anywhere OUTSIDE OF THE D. The ball has to travel outside of the D and be stopped before going back in. If full time is blown during a PC or after one has been awarded, the PC continues until the ball has left the D and travelled a reasonable distance (side lines or out of 23) Penalty Shot/PS: A free hit from the penalty mark inside the D. ONLY given for things like back of stick by defender when ball entering the goal, not just for any offence in the D The goalie must stand on the line, and all other players outside the D. The shot may only be taken by a stick almost touching the ball when shot, no slapshot type shots allowed. There are no rebounds. Gameplay: Games are 2 halves of 10 minutes, Clock counts UP, but ends EXACTLY on 10:00. Time is only stopped for Penalty Shots. Goals: A goal is given when a shot from inside the D crosses the line between the goalposts and under the crossbar, except if it goes in above the height of the backboard from a first hit at a PC. Fouls: Using feet on purpose (Free hit) Using back of stick (Free Hit) (Even if accident) Any admin abuse (Umpire's discretion) Any free hit foul in the D is a PC, PS if stops a goalbound shot or obvious goalscoring opportunity You CAN pass to yourself from a free hit. Ways an umpire can penalise a foul: Free Hit Penalty Corner Penalty Shot Green Card Yellow Card (Minimum 3min suspension) Red Card 2 GC offences doesn't mean a YC, and 2 YC offences doesn't mean a RC. They have to be for the exact same thing. How a PC can be given: Foul in the D Deliberately played over the backline by a defender/GK
