i'm already at $1204 with windows 8.1 added and i haven't even added a monitor or paid for shipping costs, which i imagine will be an extra 20-30 bucks it's a nice rig: i7-490k evga superclocked gtx970 4gb (should run just about any game at ultra/max easily) 8 gb of 2133mhz ddr3 ram (corsair) 2 tb hard drive (7200 rpm) anyone know if i could save money by building it myself? or should i beg my mom to help me pay for it or what could i change to make it cheaper (like making it an i5 whatever K instead of i7) but still run just as good pls and thx u -N ツ

Get a solid state drive moron. Why in gods name do you need 2 tarabytes of hard drive, that is so useless it's ridiculous, get 500 gb of solid state drive. Or do you even know the difference? ily2beb

damn. that'll save me at least a hundred you think i could make it an i5 4560k or what ever it is and still run games at ultra/max pretty easily? or would i be better suited with an i7. i want to be able to play games at max around 2-3 years down the road -N ツ

You're screwing yourself over by getting a hard drive, just letting you know. SSD is 100x faster than HDD. ily2beb

@isosta 500 gb ssd costs around $300+ not sure why you're calling me a moron @letsbet 2tb is cheaper than 1 with the sale they have. 500gb is like 5 dollars cheaper than 2tb, so i might as well get 2 if i downgraded to a gtx 960 4g evga superclocked version i could just pick a 500 watt psu. but right now they have a deal going where they double the amount of watts, so i'd get an extra 500 for free -N ツ

And please look up the difference between a hard drive and solid state drive. A hard drive has to physically write data to a disc using a mechanical arm. Solid state drives have no moving parts, so they're a TON faster and they make much less noise. ily2beb

1: Get an SSD, 2 TB is overkill 2: swap out i7 for i5 4690k, and use that money to buy a closed loop liquid cooler 3: TBH if you don't care about power consumption, swap out the 970 for an R9 290X (don't buy the 390X due to the fact that it is pretty much a rebranded 290x but more expensive)

not sure how many times i have to say this: 2 tb is super cheap on the website i'm on. in fact, it's cheaper than a 1 tb hdd right now and it's $200 cheaper than a 512 gb ssd. i am not getting an ssd. i want to >>SAVE>SPEND<< money. so quit suggesting it PLEASE. and an r9 290x is more expensive than a 970. -N ツ

BUT IT'S A HARD DRIVE Hard drives are terrible compared to SSD's. I don't care how many tarabytes it has, I'd take a 256GB SSD over a 2 tarabyte HDD. ily2beb

1.If you do switch to the i5 4690k, use the "extra" money to buy a 8 or 16 GB SSD yourself at like best buy or something. 2. Overclock the hell out of the i5 to get maximum performance/price ratio
