theyve been calling it esports for years, because thats essentially what it is. its teams going head to head in a competition, just like in physical sports, there are tournaments, brackets, finals/semi-finals, divisions of skills (pro/semipro)
there is really no other term to describe it, it takes practice to get as good as these players, just like you wont ever see a little league baseball player as good as a pro, its a sport in every context of the word |
