You do know that "Jew" isn't the name of the religion, right? It's Judaism. It's blocked because people post offensive things relating to the word, not because they're against Judaism. |

@TheKillerEcho
I am aware that "Jew" is not the name of Judaism. While it can be used as an offensive term, we should not live in fear that somebody will use it in this manner and ban its use all together. Rather, we should be allowed to say it and use it in its properly. If it is not, we can report the offender. |
|
|
This would be a nice little thing to have, but it's not entirely necessary when you can just say "Jewish" instead. |

I am a Jewish? I think not. I am Jew.
All forms of the word should be allowed, not just enough for others to understand what you're saying. |

This is unrelated but OH MY GOD DUDE, you play Builders too? I've played that since 2010 until recently!
Also what I said was a joke. I'm not really jewish.

@TimeTicks
Please do not confuse this matter with politics. This argument is strictly whether "Jew" should removed from the chat filters. |
|
AstroCodeJoin Date: 2009-10-09 Post Count: 1122 |
To recap so far, there are our arguments:
-Jew is a word to describe somebody of the Judaic faith and nothing else.
-If allowed, abusers of the word can be reported to moderators.
-Other religions are fully allowed, but not Judaism.

Call to Action:
Remove "Jew" from the Roblox chat filters. |

No support. Somewhere in one of the rules things, it bans discussion of the Holocaust, and 'Jew' is a word that is very closely related to that.
And there goes my account!

"Jew" is only related to that if you make it, like you just did. I could say "I am a Jew" and have absolutely no relation to that at all. It's all about context, and as I have mentioned earlier, abusers can be reported to moderators.

So in your books, (I'll use the term "bad pictures" to preserve my account,) are alright? It's only the people using it for bad that makes them wrong!

Also, that means every censored word is ok! Users don't even have to use them!
There are holes in your logic, Astro.

@xDisturbance
1)
I'm not quite sure what you're getting at about the "bad pictures". Would you mind elaborating?
2)
I understand what you're saying, but I am not proposing we lift the ban on every censored word. There are many words that simply do not have a morally appropriate use. There are also words whose proper uses are inappropriate for a website like Roblox. I believe that "Jew" does not fall under either of these categories. Please remember that this is a word to describe somebody of a religion, not a swear word or anything vulgar.

1. Ah, forget it. I'm going to try and keep my account alive as long as possible. It's a four letter word, if that helps any.
2. ROBLOX has stated that discussion of the Holocaust is prohibited, and 'Jew' is closely related. I'm pretty sure (Insert name of people group in Germany rules by Adolf. ROBLOX censored it for me) is censored as well.

Sorry for the late response, I haven't been able to get on for a bit. This post is in response to TimeTicks' second post on this topic.
@TimeTicks,
The application of the word "Jew" in everyday conversations is way more practical, and easier for that matter, than using "Judaism". There is no reason why you should have to go out of your way to converse about said religion when you may simply use the word as intended. If the word is used in a derogatory manner, or with the intention of creating conflict, so be it. That can be dealt with via a report to the ROBLOX moderation team, or just be ignored. It's not that big of a deal, and can be easily dealt with.
I'm not trying to create conflict over a somewhat controversial topic, don't get me wrong. Everyone is obligated to their own opinion, and I support religious pursuits regardless of reason. You have the right to exercise your religion.
Those are my thoughts on the topic. |
