It could. It really depends on factors like what blocks and meshes they use for props, how much lines of code is needed to code certain animations, and the number of players. Basically how much more data would be needed.
It's a gameplay enhancement, just like upping aesthetics and graphics of old engines, and like any enhancement to gameplay it can cause lag. I don't think it would be that much, though, mostly because it won't be running more script at the same time. It will just have more script in the Workspace. It would be like adding a few extra studs and blocks to a game.
I compare these to gear. They're a part of your character, and a part of you, but they won't exist in every place. They wouldn't be forced into anywhere. |

I partially disagree with this statement since instead of one script running for multiple people simultaneously, it will be multiple scripts running for multiple people simultaneously. Idk if that would slow the game down exactly, but it seems like more lines of code being used at once = slower speed.
But then again, tons of online games have separate animations for separate characters (it's kind of the norm now) and they aren't exactly considered to be abnormally slow so.... |

Support, so long as animations don't change hit-boxes. People could use them to their advantage on more than just a cosmetic level at that point. Also, I'm not too sure about a universal running mechanic.

They have to make sure the hitbox doesn't get bigger, like if you were wearing a cape or something.

It's more of a hypothetical running mechanic, because in the end it's up to the place owners to decide "Hey I'm turning off special runspeed animations and walkspeed animations" in Place Configure. Plus you'd have to be in a game where you can change your speed to below 8 or above 16 in the first place. |

This was really masterfully written, and the idea is awesome! I can really see your vision right now man, and it's looking badass.
I support this 100%. My only worry is in relation to hitboxes and props. They would probably need to make extra effort to make it possible for animations to bring props into places and to make sure the hitbox stays the same size for everyone (not that they've ever done that before. Packages, anyone?)
But other than that, this is a very creative and well-made thread and I think that everyone should read it.
