^ Not counting other physical features like Hats, faces, and gears, sure.
And cyber that's your opinion, and it's not a very popular one.
This isn't just for personality, this is for added depth to gameplay, too, I'd like to point out.
But I don't see you support anything, so whatever. No use in debating. A cynic is a cynic. |

arguing tip numero uno:
don't say "your opinion isn't popular" |

That's cool, I don't really want to argue, I just wanted to give my two cents without escalating. |

This is S&I. It ALWAYS escalates, whether you want it to or not :P |

Don't ever say "your opinion is invalid," "your opinion is wrong," or "your opinion is unpopular."
Opinions can't be wrong or invalid. That's why they're opinions. If you think someone's opinion is wrong or invalid, you're a bigot.
Don't say "your opinion is unpopular" because opinions are meant to vary. Wouldn't it be boring if everyone agreed with the same thing all the time? |

time to sum this up
script it and put it in your own place first, so we have a decent idea of what it'd look like

@cyber
Well if opinions can't be wrong or invalid, they can't be right or valid either, so I guess it goes both ways. Either take the good with the bad or take none.
Plus I've never seen you support anything before, so I can see why people are skeptical... |

Show me when I said my opinion was superior to others. I'm not a bigot, unlike some people. |

@cybersquat
Normally I would agree with what you're trying to say, but in S&I it's a little different.
The reality is, unlike in regular situations, where it is true, opinions don't really mean anything, in S&I threads there are actual stakes.
I don't agree with you when you say opinions can't be wrong or invalid in this context, and I don't agree with rend when he said opinions can't be right or valid. In S&I they can because there's something at stake here, and people's opinions on an idea decide whether or not it would ever be considered. In that sense, opinions carry actual weight.
The moderators would look at the amount of positive and negative feedback (and what they detail) a thread has received, and then pass judgement on it themselves. Like it or not, in S&I people are working towards a common goal -- in Jascha's and my sense we're working for this to make it out of the suggestion phase.
I think you're right when you say that you never said you were right or superior, but I have a question for you: Would you care if they actually considered this? Would it bother you if this became a thing? Because with me it's never the actual opinion that bothers me, it's when people make it their mission to see it never gets added, and that's when the people who want it to be added end up getting into debates, and ultimately flame wars.
Don't take opinions so lightly in S&I. In S&I, a thread's life or death rests on the amount of positive feedback it gets. Anyone has the power to destroy a thread or help a thread. I don't think it's wrong to be wary of that.
But I do recognize that Jascha showed hostility to your opinion. Did it make him bigoted? Not really.... a bigot by definition is someone who is intolerant of opinions that aren't their own, and Jascha didn't really attack your opinion or make any effort to destroy it. All he said was it wasn't popular. Regardless of anything is implied or not, just saying that doesn't make you a bigot. It's sort of in the grey area...
Sorry for the long reply. I just wanted to share :P |

I said I didn't want to argue, so what's the problem? People are going to share their opinion on your opinions all the time, I hope you know.
What did me saying your opinion was unpopular get under the skin? If so then I'll take it back. I'm sorry for saying that.
But don't you think you're being bigoted yourself when you can't tolerate my opinion on your opinion? Or you think me not leaving your opinion alone means that I couldn't tolerate it enough to, so therefore I'm bigoted?
Fine, I say we're both bigoted.
But I'm not looking to get into an argument, because those just turn into flame wars.

No, neither of you are bigots.
Just because you said it was unpopular doesn't make you a bigot, because clearly you were OK with him having that opinion; you just let him know you didn't agree.
And he isn't a bigot just because he perceived you as attacking his opinion. Getting defensive has nothing to do with being a bigot.
The fact of the matter is, bigot is a term thrown around when people openly disagree with each other, and in reality in the forums it should be taken as lightly as "noob" or "ODer" |
