Amongst all of the songs that I have heard within the last 14 years of my life, being from the time I was born, to the day this is posted. Hear are my favorites. Although music these days isn't really about the lyrics and has not a lot of meaning to it, I will share the songs that I think have enough to qualify for a well written song. 1. Keep Holding On - Falling in Reverse: This song has made it to my list of favorite songs due to it's message. The man singing this song is named Ronnie Radke and comes from the band Falling in Reverse. Coming from a rough start in life because of a drug addiction that nearly ended his career and almost his life. He decided to compose a song about trying to be a better person and how he thought he had his life all planned out, but they didn't turn out as expected. He sings about how he has been holding himself down, but he has formed his career from that. Coming from a band that makes music that can be classified as a mix of punk and emo, it's a good song and deserves to be on this list. 2. Thin Line - Ben Haggerty (Also known as Macklemore to new listeners): This song tells the story of a former relationship of his. This song also features Buffalo Madonna who sings alongside him. The point of this song is how he deals with the relations troubles and how he has trouble coping with it and how he can't forget 'her' out of his head and how he is starting to love her less and how their love is starting to fade. Although I am not a fan of romance, this is a great song that I will forever love. 3. Hallelujah- Panic! At The Disco: This song is a good song that for some reason motivates me but at the same time starts to get me depressed, probably because I can relate to a lot of these sad songs. The message of the song though is that you can't just keep moping around about your depression and don't let it hold you down, and that the time of being sad is over it. One of the last things he says about relationships is that your'll never know if you'll never try again. 4. Headlights - Eminem (Marshal Mathers): Headlights depicts the childhood of one of the most famous white rappers in the U.S, Eminem. As a child he had an agonizingly rough start in life, after his father left him with his mother who was unstable due to mental issues, he stayed with his grandmother a lot of the time. A little further down the road, his brother Nathan was placed in a foster home at the 8 years old. After talking about all of his struggles, he begins to end the song by saying he's sorry for not understanding all of the issues with his mother and asks for her forgivenesses. 5. Victory Lap - Macklemore/ Ben Haggerty: This is the last song the list so I thought I might choose a song that's not so dark or depressing, so I chose this one because it has motivated me in some really tough times and got me through some hard things along with other songs by this artist. Victory Lap is written about how at an early age Ben Haggerty also known as Macklemore started to get himself known in the music business alongside his music partner Ryan Lewis. And how they worked hard and earned their awards and accomplished their goals in the music industry. Music is more than just notes or words, music is more than just art, music is life.

You guys are all entitled to your own opinions, but if you guys are going to post hate on here I will just try and delete the post. Either way as a reply to the dude with that elephant head, part of the reason why I like Falling in Reverse is because I have been listening to the lead singer's music since an early age and I still appreciate his music for what it is. Not a lot of music these days makes any sense, but there are some people out there that still try to make something out of it. And when it comes to Eminem and Macklemore, it's not that I love all their music, it's just that those songs I listed are some of their best in my opinion. Eminem is almost 40 if not already, so I do agree with everybody who says he should start easing out of the music industry. But when it comes to Panic! At The Disco you can't go wrong if you are somebody my age, who has listened to them since he was four years old then you kinda get to like them. This is all just my opinion and none of you have to believe it, vice versa. In the end, the songs I listed are just songs that I happened to like, I may not like the artist or all of his/her music but some songs can just be really well composed. Thanks to everybody who wrote back today and yesterday, I will continue to post threads asking different questions each or every other day depending on how many people write back.

There was also something I forgot to say, coming from my prospective, I tend to like lots of music probably because my father is a DJ. So any songs or bands that are mentioned by you guys are probably ones that I have heard and will bring back some memories.

1. Welcome to the Black Parade-My Chemical Romance: This song is amazing! It's about how, at the time, Gerard Way believed that when you die, you'd be greeted with your fondest memory and then taken to the afterlife. The theatricality of the song was pretty cool, too. There are also lines in the song that lets people know that there ARE people who will remember you after death. The meanings of all of the verses in this song are just amazing and I love this song so much! 2. Drag me to the Grave-Black Veil Brides: I love this song so much! It's about fighting your inner demons and not letting them take you down without a fight. It's very inspirational! (Also v catchy) 3. Immaculate Misconception-Motionless in White: This song is great. It's about how Chris Cerulli wanted to highlight the hypocrisy and highlight the self-righteous holier-than-thou people and show they're so full of crap. It's about how many of those holier-than-thou people call him and the band Satanic. The song is harsh, I'll admit that, but it gets the point across very well, that you need to open your mind before you spread so much hatred around. The ending is very powerful, as well. The ending:"I may not have built this kingdom but, I'll make f#cking sure that I protect it from you" Meaning that while he may not own God's creations, he'll protect them from fake idiots who go around making an ass of themselves, preaching and shoving their religion down everyone's throats. 4. I Don't Care-Fall Out Boy: Starting from the first verse, I automatically loved this song. I love the narcissistic tone that was set up in the first verse. I love how the first verse talks about letting go and starting over again. I love how they borrowed a line from Nirvana, and added a hint of the narcissism that has become so present in society. My favorite line from the song is "The best of us can find happiness in misery" because it's so true! The song's basically trying to get the point across that they don't give a damn what you think about them. 5. I'm No Good-New Years Day: I love this song so much. It's about basically knowing the darker parts of yourself, the parts of yourself you aren't very proud of and just want to get rid of. This song is basically taking all of the darker parts of yourself and owning them, and using them to your advantage. This song is great. It's gritty, it's dark, but it's also very inspirational. If life ain't just a joke, then why are we laughing?

I don't know if it goes best first but.. alright. 1.Slowdive - So Tired [Fv9oLv2oEqg]~ I always listen to this a lot, mostly when I'm on long journeys on the train because I'm normally there. This makes me relax and feel better because of how calm the song is saying it's alright, however it makes it as if my whole trip was a dream because I normally do such great things. I also love Neil's part in the song. 2.Type O Negative - My Girlfriend's Girlfriend [KgkBWZXVLyk] It was either this song or 'I Don't Wanna Be Me'. 'I don't wanna be me' is really groovy but I like this song better because it just reminds me of The Sister's of Mercy which I was going to put on this list. I love Peter Steele's vocals in this song- just everything about it really. 3.Clan Of Xymox - Something Wrong [9G-yZmf6o8A] This is along song but, I love the opening which is about 1:30 minutes long. The instruments are so relaxing and Ronny's vocals and the lyrics are spooky. I never get tried of this. 4. Acid Bath - Scream of the Butterfly [1eB5-BnKc6o] I don't really have anything to say about this, it's calming and the lyrics are quite chilling. I'll never get tired of this song either. It reminds me of serial killer but the album art doesn't help- I think the song is about child abuse, I'm not quite sure. ~I always sing this when I hear it. ~Extra: Remix of Daughter's song 'Medicine' [eLzjrc9BFCE]~ Shame he was going to put out a album were he was going to do normal music but he never put it out to the public. I respect what he does though. I really don't have much to say about them, I just really like how all the instruments sound and the lyrics.

okay, i'm going to respond to this thread seriously now 1. A Better Son/Daughter - Rilo Kiley. I found this song during one of my more...depressive phases, and I cannot stress how much of a help it's been. I wouldn't go so far to say it saved my life or anything, but it reminds me that not everything stays terrible forever and that you can make it through whatever crap you're going through. ("You'll be awake, you'll be alert, you'll be positive though it hurts, and you'll laugh and embrace all your friends. You'll be a real good listener, you'll be honest, you'll be brave, you'll be handsome and you'll be beautiful...you'll be happy.") 2. Cath... - Death Cab For Cutie. Definitely the best song off of Narrow Stairs, and one of my favorites by them. It's enjoyable to listen to, but still has a healthy dose of angst (because it wouldn't be a Death Cab song if it didn't have any angst in it). Plus, I absolutely love this line: "As the flashbulbs burst, she holds a smile. Like someone would hold a crying child." 3. Corsicana - The Antlers. There's something about the general tone of this song that, like most of The Antlers' music, makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry. It's arguably one of their prettiest songs to date, and definitely underrated. 4. Gold - Marina and the Diamonds. Definitely my favorite song of hers by far, and arguably one of the best songs off of her new album. "Yeah, I know that I need the gold. But what I love can't be bought or sold." 5. Slippery Slopes - Jenny Lewis. The best way to describe this song is 'very Sangcore' (thanks, ParisTexas, for coining that word). It's one of my favorite songs from The Voyager and, really, one of my favorite songs by Jenny Lewis. It's catchy and enjoyable to listen to without being totally vapid and devoid of meaning.

i've had the same favorite songs for a while i might as well post them here with how i found out about it: giants - bear hands: i heard it on some indie playlist on spotify about a month ago and i liked the song. a lot. i listened to it like 10 times a day for a week until i finally checked out their second album, distraction. it's a great album in my opinion and i think they deserve more attention. santa monica - the front bottoms: two of my sisters would always blast songs by the front bottoms when we all still lived together. it was annoying because i wasn't interested in that type of music back then, but my taste changed over time. i heard one of my sisters say something about them and i also saw a few posts about them on tumblr. so, i got on spotify and listened to their 2013 album, talon of the hawk . i got shocked by the fact that they weren't some bad screamo band. they are actually one of my favorite bands now. antichrist - the 1975: i heard their song chocolate on the radio the summer before last. i didn't like it at first because it's pop and i could hardly understand what he was saying because of his accent. a month or two later i stumbled across one of their better songs online and clicked play. i liked how it was emotional yet also, about drugs. the whole package! colors - halsey: i was on tumblr and i would always see pictures of this girl with colored hair. i found out her name was halsey. i decided to follow her on instagram to learn more about her. i found out that she is a musician so i gave a couple of her songs a listen. a week later i came across a live version of her unreleased song, colors. i thought it was amazing. she hid a meaning behind simple lyrics and, there was a catchy chorus. $ting - the neighbourhood: i heard the nbhd's most popular song, sweater weather, on the radio and i liked how it wasn't annoying and the band actually put work into it (jk it's about sweaters and it being cold). i had to hear the song a few times until the radio host said the band's name, the neighbourhood. i got on my laptop and searched up more songs by them, first i listened to let it go. then i learned a lot about them. i'm not going to go into detail on that because this post is already getting pretty long. anyways, a month or so after i got obsessed with the band, i listened to their wHOLE DISCOGRAPHY. every song that they released at the time. and then i heard $ting, i'm pretty sure i cried. it's an emotional song, i'm just going to leave it at that.
