Everybody knows my weekly Top 5, this one is based on Alternative Rock Bands.
#5. Sublime. This band is more for adults than children. Their song 'Santeria' is their biggest hit and is my favorite song from them.
#4. Chubawamba. This band made 'Tubthumping' which is their biggest hit, and might be their only hit.
#3. Stone Temple Pilots. This band is also more for adults than children. My favorite song by them is 'Interstate Love Song'.
#2. Green Day. This band made two great songs that I can't decide over each over. 'Good Riddance' and 'Basket Case'.
Honorable Mention:
- Coldplay. If this list was based on 2000s Alternative Rock, it would be #1, but too bad this is the 90s. I like many Coldplay songs like 'Viva la Vida', 'Paradise', 'Clocks', and many more.
#1. Nirvana. I don't know many songs from Nirvana, but I can tell you that I love their song 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. |

replace chubawamba with pavement
replace sublime with oasis (i know they only had two good albums, stick with me here)
replace stone temple pilots with belle & sebasitan
replace green day with pearl jam
i guess nirvana can stay
there, now your list is half-way decent |

so you're only picking bands that you've heard one or two hit songs from?
also, Coldplay's first album didn't come out until 2000, so... |
|
|
here's a corrected list
10. oasis
9. wu-tang clan
8. aphex twin
7. spiritualized
6. talk talk
5. my bloody valentine
4. pearl jam
3. pavement
2. belle & sebastian
1. nirvana
switched up the order a bit but whatever |

so youre basing this list on the two or three songs youve heard from each artist |
|
|
still can't get over the fact coldplay is an 'honorable mention' on a best of NINETIES alternative list
|
|
|
"still can't get over the fact coldplay is an 'honorable mention' on a best of NINETIES alternative list"
agreed. shameful.
that's like putting nirvana on a best of the 80s list. |
|
|
>that's like putting nirvana on a best of the 80s list.
atleast nirvana had an album out in the 80s though |
|
|
"atleast nirvana had an album out in the 80s though"
truth, and bleach is their second best studio album tbh
coldplay had an ep out 99 if i recall correctly but it wasn't even like a notable ep.
like if we were talking a "you made me realize" style ep, op might have a point |
|
|
i also don't get people who say they like a band if they've only heard one or two of their songs. i usually won't say i like a band until i've heard at least a couple of their albums.
|
|
|
bleach was like melvins rip off but it was good |
|
|
"i also don't get people who say they like a band if they've only heard one or two of their songs. i usually won't say i like a band until i've heard at least a couple of their albums"
"hey guy i like oasis"
"oh, are you gonna get noel gallagher's new album?"
"who's nole galag-a-hurt? anyways here's wonderwall"
*pulls out guitar* |
|
|
"coldplay had an ep out 99 if i recall correctly but it wasn't even like a notable ep."
oh, what do you know, they did
if that makes them a 90's alternative band then they also ought to include death cab for cutie and rilo kiley, seeing as both had stuff out in the late 90's (the former released their debut album in '98, the latter had their first EP in '99 i believe)
