"War does not determine who is right - only who is left." - Bertrand Russell. The declaration of war determined not only the problems with the way the world ran but also the problems of relying on your friends too much. The war saw nations, once proud and prosperous, fall into the black abyss which subdued all the calm and happy thoughts throughout the world. Politicians declared the war and the youth, the youth who were supposed to grow old with pride and the feeling of accomplishment, were left to fight, fend for themselves and die in the eternal waste left behind by the war. The economy in the world collapsed as did all trade and diplomacy. Nations, the remaining nations, were left to fend for themselves and pray that their natural resources could help their population to thrive and, in the unpredictable future, win the war. None of the expected nations were known as the winners, so far, and the most likely nations to survive were the European nations such as Germany, France, Poland, the United Kingdom and, surprisingly, Romania. They had the perfect natural resources to help limit their population growth but also to feed the entire population and still have stocks to spare. However, this came at a huge price. Populations decreased through battle, disease and starvation - Britain no longer stood at a proud population of 73,500,000 but instead they had lowered, rapidly, to just over 42,500,000 people. Of those were the 3,250,000 men and women who were fighting to defend the borders from enemy attack both aerial and through the sea. Countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and, surprisingly, Italy had collapsed and left nothing but an uncivilised mess of refugee camps which were slowly being absorbed by the outstanding agriculture which grew without treatment through the concrete jungles. The United States of America, Russia, China and Japan were the main contributors to the war. They had lost a total of 13,500,000 combined in the last twenty two years of fighting. They were the original players in the war which saw the world divided, also. The entire continent of Africa is ruled by one major power which goes by the name of the Combined African Front (CAF) which originally stationed itself in Egypt. Asia is ruled by a combination of powers including China, Japan, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Unified Korea (North Korea won). Australasia (Oceania) saw heavy fighting in the beginning five years but the nations ceased to exist after clashes saw the populations last without food, water and sufficient materials necessary to survive in the harsh scorching hot weather. Antarctica is ruled by the Russians, the British and the Americans who like to claim their territories for scientific research purposes. These pieces of territory are the only territories, belonging to those three nations, which have been untouched throughout the war which has lasted twenty two (22) years. North and South America joined together to create the American continent. Countries like Chile, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador and Colombia joined the Brazilian Empire and now hold the entire Southern section of the American continent whilst monitoring American behaviour from up North. Europe is the biggest success story in the war. The European Union, and the currency (the Euro), collapsed on the first three years of warfare and ever since the main nations have been conquering the smaller lands to contribute to their large stocks of natural resources. Poland began digging into Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia whereas France ate Spanish and Portuguese territory (as a whole). Germany decided to go southbound towards Switzerland and Austria - taking both countries without much of a fight or objections from the other powers. Britain began to keep a policy of only defending territory - not taking it - until they decided to fully invade Ireland to create the United Kingdom as a whole. The year is 2040 and the war keeps going - forever and forever. (I'll get mine done first) Name: Jonathan "Limey" Greenwood Age: 36 Gender: Male Regiment: The Yorkshire Regiment [1-YORK](19th and 33rd of Foot) Nationality: British (Allegiance: Western Allies) Rank: Commander Primary Weapon: SA80A2 (w/ SUSAT sight) Secondary Weapon: Glock 22 Melee Weapon: Combat Knife Backpack (5 things): Personal Role Radio (PRR), Canteen, Mess Kit, Camouflaged Netting, Rope [4 metres] Situation: Battle of Groningen [Land and Air] (1-YORK is heavily pinned down after an enemy pincer movement separated them from German and French infantry and armour) Physical Appearance: Jonathan has brown hair which is cut very short at both sides and the back and the top of his hair is a little bit longer (it looks darker). His face is usually covered with camouflage paint and he has a small scar where his right eyebrow would be. Uniform: Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) combat uniform with the Virtus Scalable Tactical Vest (STV) and brown combat boots. Personality: Jonathan is charming and funny when at camp however when he enters the battlefield he is usually angry, aggressive and brutal in his decisions. He doesn't like to be overruled due to his sense of pride. He is both strategic and tactical which enables him to predict the outcome of the battle and see further into the war (as for enemy plans and facing them). He refuses to fight in the rain when he isn't in command of his usually battalion. Bio (1+ line): Jonathan grew up in Yorkshire when he joined the British Army with the hope to end the barbaric regime of a Middle Eastern dictator. The British Army plot failed and his first operation saw his Commander killed and most of his friends captured, injured or killed. He, luckily, fled back to safety (to a Canadian patrol convoy) and was recovered. Since then he has always taken it slowly and viewed the lives of his squad, his men, before his own. Other: N/A
