Dollhouse: What Does it Mean?

Some of us know the song Dollhouse. I watched the video and listened to the song a million times. I can't understand the meaning. Usually, whatever a song means to YOU is you're own opinion. I thought it talked about a family that presented themselves to be perfect but at home it is different. What do you guys think? If you have not heard the song, search it up. The video is a little creepy so if you don't want to see it find the lyric version.

that's pretty spot on. it's about a family that, behind closed doors, is horrifically dysfunctional (with a cheating father, alcoholic mother and pothead brother).

@sang Yeah, I find the song comforting for some reason. The meaning is deep but it is understandable.

at one point in my life, part of me could probably have related to that song (had it been out then). i also think the bridge refers to her trying to tell people about what's going on, but no one believes her because they're so good at hiding their dysfunctional-ness.

@sang I think so to. The only thing a relate to is the whole hiding stuff family. I won't put my real life situations into this though. :/
