Hello! I'd just like to suggest a voice recognition system for Roblox, in-game of course. I know, if you play Roblox a lot, you're probably really good at typing and using a keyboard, but using your voice to communicate would be much more convenient. What I mean by voice recognition is speaking what you want to say into your mic, then those words will translate into text. NO, I'm not talking about Chat Voice, quite the contrary actually. Chat Voice uses text to speech, I'm suggesting voice to text. This system would be really good for combat or any other fast paced games, so you can be as fast, effective, and communicative as possible without having to slow down just to communicate, which would most likely result in your death or failure. Just think back to the times when you got killed or fell off the map because you were typing. Of course, there's going to be people who say ''Why don't you just use Skype to communicate?'' Well not everyone has Skype, knows how to use it, or simply just doesn't want to verbally talk to other people. If Roblox implements this, it should be 100% be free, for ALL members, regardless of builders club status. |

Questions, comments, concerns? |

Would we use an already existing technology like Google's voice recognition, or would Roblox develop there own? |
Eh, might be buggy at first, but support.

@xender2: Well, it would be faster and cheaper (maybe?) for Roblox to already use an existing system. Though, Roblox will have to get permission from Google to use their voice recognition and may even have to pay, which would make us pay. Another thing is Roblox needs some kind of sensor for inappropriate words, which Google currently doesn't have (I think). Roblox is Roblox, they'll do what they want, and I don't think they'd want to use the Google Voice Recognition. |
Using Google's tech would be expensive, creating there own technology would be ludicrously expensive.
Roblox might be able to get a discount on Microsoft's technology because if that Xbox deal.
I think censoring words would be easy.
Just use the recognition technology to get the words, but the words are just censored out by roblox if its bad. |

so what you're saying is
if you speak into the mic, it would detect the voice and try to make whatever you're saying into text?
it sounds good on paper, but i think it would still be complicated for the machine to detect whatever you're saying
i still support this though |

@kevin
Have you even used Google's voice recognition? |
I agree with you, you've got a point. Maybe Google can give Roblox some kind of business discount. My only worry is that if they use Google's Voice Recognition, we'd have to pay for this very necessary service. As for the censor, I 100% agree for you, something I didn't think about. Roblox already censors bad words, so when your voice becomes text, it'll just censor out the bad words using the existing censor system. |

Voice recognition is common and used on a lot of smart devices: Siri and Cortona is an example of successful voice recognition systems. |
BC only feature?
Jk.
Your right, Google would be the best choice, as Microsoft doesn't have nearly as good as a system. |

Spread the word! Use this link to spread the word for voice recognition so we can get more support. Hopefully we get enough support for Roblox to consider this: http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=177299622 |

It would be much too expensive. I think there's a setting you can do to use voice recognition in windows though :) |

I'd support this. Who knows? Maybe this will be available for Xbox One. |
Regardless of your thoughts on how much money it would cost Roblox, do you still support it as a good idea or don't? |

A concern is people can make game scripts to hack the voice recognition and use that to track you.
I'm in your forum, stealing your siggies. |
Would do you mean? Explain your concern a little more. |
I could make a script to auto turn on the voice and if the system is not secure enough someone knows your I.P. Another thing is HOW WOULD MODS MODERATE VOICE CHAT!?

That's too much of a general problem... Anyone can upload a virus to someone's computer to listen to what they're saying. There's not much of a way to prevent this, so I guess that could be a flaw though. For your other concern, it's not voice chat it's voice recognition, which means voice to text, not straight up verbally talking to someone. Once the voice turns into text, the text can be censored with the existing censor system. |
Have you ever used voice text on a phone? The auto correct is EVIL!
I'm in your forum, stealing your siggies. |

No, I haven't used voice text on my phone. I feel that it's kind of asinine to use your voice to text somebody, when you can just call them. Anyway, way different from Roblox because you can't call them, so it's necessary. BUT, I suppose you'll have to type it yourself when you use the voice recognition and the word isn't what you said. |
It can mess it up a LOT. an example is that I say "Hi, nice day we are having." but the voice text makes it say "Hello, *insert curse word here*"
