Metalcore is an otherwise overrated genre of music. You have to dig pretty deep to find the good stuff, but it's mainly used as a crutch to break bands into the metal scene. The most generic Metalcore song I can think of would have to be "The Depths" by Of Mice & Men which serves as one of the most popular metalcore songs to date. The song has basic lyrics piled on top of an overrated subject and is filled with nothing but screams. It's basically the metalcore song every generic fan loves.
In metalcores defense, the genre isn't as bad as people say. Everyone loved it until 2010. The only modern metalcore bands I have an interest in are The Amity Affliction and Memphis May Fire. The Amity Affliction actually has good lyrics and decent songs. If you guys were to actually red the lyrics, you would understand. Memphis May Fire, albeit controversial, aren't that bad. Matty Mullins is hated on because pop-punk fans believe him to be a "women hater", when in reality: teenage girls shouldn't be dressing like that to concerts to begin with. Not to mention, anyone who takes advice from The Wonder Years or whoever said it, is an idiot. |
