smh tyrod wasn't throwing the deep passes |
he wasn't touched though
you can run 50 yards the wrong way, go oob, and the clock will stop |
"you can run 50 yards the wrong way, go oob, and the clock will stop"
no it wont
if you are moving backwards and go out of bounds, the clock does not stop

that is not forward progress though |
The clock stops if the ball goes out of boundaries and runs when the referee signals for play unless it is inside 2 minutes in the 1st half or 5 minutes in the 2nd half where the clock will not run until the ball is snapped into play. |
going out of bounds without forward progress = no stopped clock

As he was falling backwards, his elbows touched the ground before he went oob. |

"As he was falling backwards, his elbows touched the ground before he went oob."
this part is irrelevant because he wasnt contacted

There is no "backward progress" in the NFL and you should probably cite the rulebook. The officials don't determine if the player went backwards to go out of bounds.
Maybe you're referring to how it is illegal to throw a backward pass out of bounds to stop the clock? |
you have to be basically hit and driven back or stopped for fwd progress to be called |
fwd progress is not called if you run 50 yards back on your own. |
