The reason I'm so fervent about my beliefs now is because I've read Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris -- and then I read Stroble, McDowell, Behe, and JP Moreland. I can name popular arguments used for and against the idea of a god or gods. Quite frankly, I saw religion (Christianity, specifically) as having more credibility behind it.
