[BOOTING UP BACKSTORY] World's not what it used to be, friend. Year's 2178, New England, America. About a hundred and a half or so years ago, the economy was booming, and things in the typical American's life were going as good as they could. New innovations were being pumped out by corporations nearly every day, but it came with consequence: air pollution being produced by the ton every minute of the day. But, hey, the people weren't complaining. They were too busy obsessing over the next gadget the corporations would shove down their throat. Another distinct disadvantage was the constant fossil fuel depletion due to the factories that made this junk. With people too focused on consumer products for a quick buck, only a select few made advancements in the green power business. This lack of innovation costed humanity. Big time. With the sudden realization of resource depletion, World Powers went on a frenzy, trying to secure the last of the fuel for themselves. War created alternative industry, shifting some corporations into the weapons business. With the constant usage of the remaining substances left, the deposit of fossil fuels had nearly dried up three years into the war. With some nations oblivious to this truth and some deciding to hold their fire to prevent casualties, the confusion and unrest allowed super powers to take out their enemies using nuclear strikes until much of the world was reduced to a radioactive desert. Armageddon had finally been achieved. While the nuclear fire had claimed billions of lives, the thirty or so million lucky survivors in America found a break when the government funded the "Post-Crisis Urbanization Movement". Basically, they were to harness the nuclear energy left to build five mega-cities, metropolitan areas designed to be miles high and hold millions of people at a time. Families traveled miles to centralized locations where they could settle and start a new life. It's been a hundred years since the creation of these cities, but not much has gotten better. Advances in science have been made, but much of the technology is still the same. My city, we call it "Journey's End", because the few people that make it here alive will never want to go back. Neon lit holograms, displays, pubs, shops, anything you can imagine, it's littered everywhere in the city. Corporations have a hold on the city, but there is opportunity for an aspiring runner. Perfect place to change your ways, habits, and even yourself. [BOOTING UP LOCATIONS] City operates on a modular floor system consisting of mile high buildings. Here's a rundown of the levels and some. [LEVEL 5] - The bottom level of the city, Level 5, it commonly referred to as "Don't go to that place, moron!". Basically, it's the location with the least security and the most crime. Hobos, street trash, and impoverished people live in the broken, unrenovated building created a century ago. Not a fun place to visit, won't lie. [LEVEL 4] - The level with the most action, Level 4 is home to the recreation and undercover business in the city. Pubs, Clubs, whatever you need, you'll almost certainly find it here. Multiple crime rings and runner organizations operate on this level, so that could turn you off (or on) to visiting. Food markets run by local hunters are also a vastly common sight down here. Food's not bad, but may contain unexpected items. Health checks aren't as often as they need to be down here. [LEVEL 3] - Third Level's where you'll find most of the middle class residential areas, as well as everyday shopping areas and schools. Crime rates are usually low on this floor due to heavy concentration of Agents, but there is the occasional robbery of candy from children. Rotten kids are about as hostile as this floor gets. [LEVEL 2] - Level 2 is where you'll find the corporate offices, testing facilities, and just about everything labeled "FOR DELIVERY" If you're interested in opening a local business, the real estate is not too bad for every floor besides this one. Corporations do not take to newcomers nicely. [LEVEL 1] - This level's basically a no-no zone for all you peasants. To even gain access to this level, you much have city approval, which is tough to get, considering there are nearly 14 million residents in the city. This is one huge residential zone on top in the relatively clean, relatively fresh air for all the celebrities, CEOs and government leaders of the city. [The Sprawl] - The dunes outside the city had to have name, so the people of the city gave it one: The Sprawl. Not much you can find out there, mainly sand, and more sand. Oh, and did I mention mutants? Yeah, most people cling to the city and stay away from The Sprawl, probably because the only alternative is getting yourself ripped limb from limb. [Goodville] - Those brave enough to actually live out in The Sprawl will find residence, work, and company in Goodville, a small town with an ironically incorrect name. [BOOTING UP FACTIONS] [Runners] - Runners are your everyday average thieves, mercenaries, or just plainly brutal murderers. They come in many variants, such as Street Samurai, with the weapon knowledge to kill, Marksman, who can line up a shot pretty nicely, and Brawlers, who can knock out a man with just a punch, to list a few. [Deckers] - Like Runners, Deckers pull off heist and murder for a living. The main difference between the two is that these basement nerds carry out their crime by jacking into the Cyberverse, the network of technological connections which is linked to most anything, Runners'll be able to kill you with a shot to the head, but Decker'll strike with a shock to the balls. [Hunters] - Hunters are those brave enough to venture into The Spawl, taking out mutants and making profit off their otherworldly properties. Many Hunters live in Goodville, but those who live in the city make nice food stands on the second level. Fried Mutant? Unbelievably delicious! [Enforcers] - The vigilantes of Journey's End, these pseudo-Runners stop crime instead of use it as a money-making medium. They don't take the regular pay grade of an officer of the city; they'd rather hunt for bounties for payment. Most possess the skills to blend in with any crowd, so if you're on the lamb because you owe some nut-job money, keep it on the down-low. These guys could be anywhere. [Agents] - Elite operatives that work for the government. Agents keep high-scale crime in check within the city limits. Armed with supreme knowledge of human body language and detection, these soldiers can spot you in large crowds or just in plain sight. Physically augmented parts of their body give them enhanced combat abilities, making them a tough opponent for weaker criminals. [Socialites] - The ravers, parties, and fun-havers that inhabit the many clubs of the city. They make a living (somehow) by partying as hard as they can as long as they can, and seem to be doing a decent job. They may not be so bright up in there, but they know how to have a good time. [Corporals] - The product testers, scientists, engineers, and managers of large corporations. If they live and breathe on the fourth floor, chances are they're a Corporal. [Billionaires] - The celebrities, CEOs and government officials of Journey's End. 'Nough said. [BOOTING UP SPECIES] Journey's End is home to several classified "species", ranging from mutants to synths. [Human] - Your simple, average human. They aren't particularly physically or mentally specialized in any area, but are balanced in all aspects. [Irradiated Humans] - Those who are considered "rad-touched" are better known to the people as the irradiated. They have received minor radiation mutation, giving them a usually wrinkled, scarred appearance and skin with a greenish-hue. They are slightly stronger and faster than most humans, but average lower intelligence. [Mutants] - In recent years, intelligent mutants have gained citizenship rights within the city. Although widely discriminated against, Mutants lead successful lives. They are usually a few feet taller than average humans, with a bulky body type. They possess superior strength, but inferior intelligence due to the irradiated mutations reaching the brain. [Synths] - Synths are self-aware andriods powered by a sophisticated AI developed by Corporations. Synths were given free rights as early as 2115 due to massive raids that caused major casualties. They are build in a weak framed body, giving them a little less structural support than an average human. On average, Synths have a greater reaction time than other species due to an advanced cybersystem. [BOOTING UP RULES] Not putting many (or any) rules here, because you all should be well aware of what's expected. No loopholes for the "lack of rules"; I determine what is okay and what isn't. [BOOTING UP CHARACTER SHEET] Name [include a nickname or handle in necessary]- Age - Gender - Species - Faction - Appearance [Include physical appearance, clothing and cybernetics] - Personality [no need for a detailed description; it's self explanitory in your roleplay] - Backstory [like the above, keep it short and sweet] - Items [firearms, gadgets] - [Now get to it, maggots.]

Name- As a Synth, his production name is Unit N-2562, but he prefers to be called "Nixon". Age- Nixon was created in 2136, but has the physical appearance of a 28 year old man. Gender- Although androids have no specified gender, Nixon considers himself male. Species- Nixon is a Corporation-made Synth. Faction- He is the head of the prominent group of Runners, otherwise known as "The Inner Ring". Appearance - Nixon was created with handsome features and fair skin, with an angular, long facial structure, prominent cheekbones and a slightly large forehead. He styles his coffee brown hair like a classic businessman, with his bangs up, pushed to the opposite side of the part in hair. His eyes are a vibrant blue, with shiny flecks of gold brushed in, signifying the augmentation. His body is thin and muscular due to the additional frame support of his model's design. He can usually be seen wearing a jet black two-piece suit, with a black undershirt and a black straight tie. In public, he wears a dark black military-style trench coat and onyx-fade aviators. He possesses a chrome open-steel arm augmentation with a holo-array built into it, as well as eye augmentations and synth internal augmentations. Personality - Unlike his appearance, Nixon is a generally warm and courteous man in presence. During interviews, meetings, and even interrogations, Nixon remains calm and unwavered in his body language, tone and actions. During points in enemy confrontation, Nixon frequently snaps when the enemy refuses to cooperate, showing his dark side. Backstory - Nixon was created by the Corporations as a killer to assassinate high targets the Corporations had afflictions with. Once Synth Unions reached the Corporations' doorstep, they gave Nixon the option to retire, which he gladly accepted. Now, Nixon works behind the scenes, leading "The Inner Ring"'s operations. Items - Nixon carries around a briefcase, with a concealed P90 and Five-SeveN on the interior. He possesses a basic decking rig, allowing him to do shallow operations in the cyberverse.

(Forgive me, I'm not one much for weapon terminology.) Name - Arlo Kasheck Age - 23 Gender - Female Species - A human. Faction - Minor Runner/Enforcer Appearance - She is a tanned Caucasian woman with long brown hair that is commonly tied back into a tall bridge to her nose. She stand a touch short and thinner than most women and could be confused with a mature child. She wears a red leather jacket with a black tank-top beneath it. She wear black leggings when she is planning for something to happen, otherwise she wears jeans. She wears dark red sneakers that allow for speed and stealth. Personality - A straight-forward and honest girl who expects honesty in return. She isn't one to follow the rules by any means and makes money through robbery as well as stopping robbery to keep her and the synth out of harms way. Backstory - She was raised by her mother and father in the home she still lives in, when she was six her father had finally been accepted into being an agent in which he still is part of today. Her mother has been missing for quite a long time, she joined a ring of socialites when Arlo was about seventeen and ended up showing up home less and less until one day she stopped coming home all together. Arlo began scavenging broken synths and vehicles on LEVEL 5 while also learning how to defend herself from those who were down there as well as any creeps on LEVEL 4. Now her biggest dream is to live peacefully on LEVEL 3 with C5-00. Items - Vektor CP1 (Pistol) which is strapped to her side, she also has a large crossbow in her home. Name- Unit C5-00 Age - Was one first thousand Synth's created. Gender - Identifies as neutral, it's voice seems purely robotic with no sign of gender. Species - A synth. Faction - Minor Runner/Enforcer Appearance - C5 is one of the first synths, because of that it doesn't really have much to it. It has no artificial skin and has no artificial eyes; some might even call it a prototype. It has dark blue metal that has rusted a touch over the years but has been well up-kept. The marking "C5-00" is on its left shoulder. It has metal plating over the shoulders, elbows, hands, chest, head, knees, and feet. The rest of the body is exposed, this makes it surprisingly agile for such an old model. Its eyes are similar to headlights in fashion but can also turn into literal headlights. Personality - Because it was one of the first synths, it clearly lacks in that self-identity that most other synths have. It understands what it is and refuses to accept anything other. It still holds strong opinions and emotions on certain topics. Backstory - It was created as sort of a prototype, and because of it it holds very little to be compared to other synths. Unlike some synths, he wasn't made in any form of a factory. He was hand-crafted to ensure high quality performance. Over the years that high quality performance has been slipping. It was roaming LEVEL 5 when scavengers attacked it in hopes of taking its parts and selling them. Arlo managed to rescue C5-00 from the scavengers and bring it back to her home on LEVEL 4. Items - Not much weapons or gadgets but is very skilled in first aid and translating. It is also very fast and agile.

Name - Michael 'Bo' Henson. Age - 27 Gender - Male Species - Human Faction - Runners, works under Nixon in the 'Inner Ring.' Appearance - For his face, he wears a dark brown mask, that reaches down to his neck. He wears a red sweatshirt, you can usually find it rolled up to his elbows. For fast movement, he wears sweatpants that probably weren't used for a century, when he found it in the sprawl. For his feet, he wears combat boots. Not usually used by runners, but who is going argue with him? Bo is around 6ft, and 180-190 pounds. (Face will be revealed during rp.) Personality - The man does speak, shockingly. He usually snarky, talking back to most. It'll probably get him killed one day. He's a marksman, picking off enemies, usually ones guarding the thing they need to steal, or ones coming up from behind, ready to strike down the brawlers. People wonder how he aims well, even with the mask. Backstory - He is from Irish decent, so he has a weird accent to others when he speaks. He was an only child, and was born in level 3, and his parents actually still are alive. He vists every week. The reason is unknown why he has the mask, but most are saying that it was a injury as a child, some even saying another marksman got the better of him. Items - He uses a M40 bolt action with a bipod, he calls the rifle 'Muxedo'. He brings two knives, just in case someone comes up from behind. For gadgets, he uses one: "The slinger." When it fires, it sends a metal to the person he wants to hit, it clamps around the ankle, breaking it. When he pulls back, the force sends the head down, breaking the skull. He doesn't use this as often as he should, since he says: "Well that would just ruin the point of the sniper, wouldn't it?"

Name - According to the Government Database of Level 1 he is known as Jacob Goodwin however he has been issued the Level 1 access code of DJT-016 whilst on-duty. Age - Jacob, or DJT-016, is 36 years old. Gender - He is male. Species - He is a Human. Faction - He is employed as a Senior Agent for the Government and Corporate Officials located on the notorious Level 1. He is in command of patrol operations across the entire territory covering Level 1. Appearance - Jacob is a naturally handsome looking man thick muddy-coloured brown hair styled into a quiff directing towards the right side of the face. His eyes are a light-blue mixed with a wolf-like grey however they are often covered by sensor-glasses which appear to look like silver aviators. During his duty he wears a grey jumpsuit with the "Level 1 Security Agency" logo imprinted onto the left side of his chest. Above this jumpsuit he wears a black combat vest with a small hybrid of metal and lead located in a thin layer between the thickness of the combat vest used as armour. On the front of the vest is a large pouch which is thick enough to fit spare ammunition or stun-cuffs into. On the back of the vest is a strap and a clip to attach a weapon to, for safe keeping. On his feet are steel toe-capped black combat boots where his ankle area of the jumpsuit is tucked into the top. Across his waist is a black belt with a holster attached for a secondary weapon. When he is off-duty he is normally seen wearing a light-blue polo shirt and blue jeans with white trainers (sneakers). For his job he has had to have cybernetic surgery to allow him to excel in basic performances such as arrests and riot controls. This has forced his right hand to be removed and a thick steel one replaced in its original spot. This allows Jacob to electrify the hand and use the arm as a type of stun-gun by touching an assailant who is trespassing as a method of non-lethal justice. The hand section of the metallic arm can release a blade through the palm which allows Jacob to melee fight against his enemies. Apart from this, it also allows the arm to be used for stronger fist-fighting and for breaching doors without having to use special machinery and, also, the top of the hand has a circular pad which, when pressed, can release a hologram and allow direct communications to whomever it is commanded to through the central nervous system (mind-control of the hologram projector as well as the rest of the cybernetics). Personality - Jacob is known to be both tactical and strategic whilst being proud and friendly. He is always calm and loves to assess the situation before being involved within it. Backstory - I would like this to be found out whilst role-playing so that people, if they meet me, can ask about it rather than it already be there for people to know. Items - Jacob regularly carries an M4A1 SOPMOD on the back of his combat vest, with extra ammunition within the vest-pouch. He also handles a Glock 17 within the belt holster. Also attached to his belt, and an extra pair within the vest-pouch, are stun-cuffs which forces the wearer into electrocution if their wrists touch the edge of the handcuffs - preventing possible escapes and fights. Other equipment involves the cybernetics, these include; a circular hologram projector, an electrified arm to be used as a stun-gun and a blade which comes from the palm of the metal hand.

(All above CS are accepted. Let's get this show on the road.) For about two weeks now, ominous advertisements have been slipping into the HPS (Holographic Projection System) of the city, displaying a man's face, with only his lower half exposed in light, paired with "JOIN US" and a unreadable text underneath. Most people took it lightly, assuming it was an ad for some bar on the fourth floor. Skilled runners, however, will know the language, signifying for them to come to "Circle Station" on the Fourth Floor for further detail.
