I. Introduction
"El necio es atrevido y el sabio comedido." The fool rushes in where the wise fears to tread.
Never underestimate the power of your opponent. Only a fool will declare a battle won before it has taken place. This is the most important idea that we must take into account. Without sufficient training and knowledge of our opponent, we will never gain the upper hand. In El Imperio Español Real, you will be required to demonstrate six key characteristics: Skill, knowledge, respect, discipline, loyalty, and maturity.
-Skill-
This characteristic refers to your ability to handle yourself in battle. You must be quick with the sword and be able to handle a musket. This means that you should be able to support not only yourself, but your comrades in a battle.
-Knowledge-
To become a soldier in El Imperio Español Real, you must understand the basic colonial commands. These include "Shoulder Arms, Make Ready, Salute, Attention, Present Arms, Take Aim, Fire, Left Face, Right Face, About Face, Center Face, Left Incline, Right Incline, Arrowhead Formation, Circle Formation, Square Formation, Shoulder-to-Shoulder, Column, and Stagger. You will not be required to know these commands in Spanish, but that would be a bonus to your overall knowledge.
-Respect-
Respect is not a one-way street. Just as soldiers are required to respect their officers, officers must respect their soldiers as well. Any form of disrespect will not be tolerated. This includes name-calling and insults against personality. This characteristic should not be misinterpreted as a way to get out of trainings or activities. You must follow your superior's orders, but report any direct mistreatment. You must respect your enemies as well. This means no taunts during battles or while patrolling.
-Discipline-
As a Spanish soldier, you will be required to follow orders swiftly and without questions. Do not complain while in line and never speak out of turn. Falling out of rank without permission, or speaking without permission will result in serious consequences.
-Loyalty-
El Imperio Español Real is more than a group. We are all familia and we must stick together. Abandoning the group in a time of need or committing treason will not be accepted. When you pledge loyalty to this group, you are making a vow to defend España no matter what happens.
-Maturity-
Soldiers in El Imperio Español Real must remain mature. This means there will be no crude humor, no taunting of the enemy, no boasting, no complaining, and no blaming others for your mistakes. When deciding how to handle issues, keep in mind the phrase "ojo por ojo y todo el mundo quedará ciego." Or, "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind." Never seek revenge. Handle your problems with maturity and leadership, and you will go far.
II. Commands
STS: Shoulder-to-Shoulder. Form a rank standing with your shoulders facing, but not touching, those in line.
Right Face: Turn 90 degrees to the right.
Left Face: Turn 90 degrees to the left.
Left Incline: Turn 45 degrees to the left.
Right Incline: Turn 45 degrees to the right.
About Face: Turn 180 degrees.
Center Face: Face the commander.
Shoulder arms: F
Present: Point your weapon in front of you (F)
Present Arms: Salute your commander (V)
Make Ready: Prepare before performing a firing drill (Z)
Crouch: C
Support Arms: Place your musket on your shoulder (G)
Advance Arms: To be used only by officers (H)
Order Arms: Hold muskets touching the ground, standard action whenever you are waiting in a rank.
Port Arms: N
Take aim: While zoomed in fully, hold down the right mouse button
Fire: Left mouse click
Fire at will: Fire until told to stop
Blanket Fire x times: Fire x amount of times then shoulder musket.
Fire by file: Fire in an order, starting with the person closest to the officer in charge. Each person down the rank will fire.
Volley Fire: Standard firing drill. Fire upon hearing the command (Fire!)
Cease Fire: Stop firing.
Ground Arms: Remove your musket.
Fix Bayonets: Equip bayonets (B)
Address Bayonets: Unequip bayonets (B when equipped)
Charge: With bayonets equipped, hold shift while running towards the enemy
Charge bayonets: Stay in place and stab bayonets forward (E)
Bash: Swing muskets to the side with bayonets fixed (X)
Brace: To defend against cavalry (M)
Square Formation: Form a square, facing out. Used to take out cavalry
Circle Formation: Form a circle, facing out, with the officer in the middle. Used to protect an officer from cavalry or ground infantry.
Arrowhead Formation: Form a V-shaped formation
Stagger: The person closest to the officer takes one step back, skip a soldier, take a step back, etc.
On me: Form a line behind the officer.
Attention: Order arms and remain silent.
Center: Form a rank on the left side of the officer.
Permission to Speak is in Effect: You may only speak if you ask for permission to speak. The officer must then grant permission.

III. Rules
1. Do not beg for promotions. "I should be promoted from this training."
2. Speak with proper grammar. No 'Pls', 'Thx', 'ya'. Understand proper usage of To, Two, Too, Their, They're, There, It's, Its. "I am going to the training.", "I have two muskets.", "I have two muskets, too.", "That is their responsibility.", "They're being promoted for their leadership abilities.", "Look over there!", "It's a great game.", "He has its strength."
3. Never brag or gloat.
4. Do not RK (Random Kill). If you accidentally kill a civilian, you must apologize. Remember the third key characteristic.
5. Do not TK (Team Kill). Purposeful team killing will result in a demotion or exile.
6. Dress properly (Full uniform related to your rank, Realistic skin color, proper headwear)
7. Do not speak in line without permission.

9. You must salute General de Brigadas+ when they join the server.
10. Do not complain. Complaining will result in a demotion. Examples: "I can't believe I wasn't promoted", "He seriously demoted me for that.", "I can't believe we lost that raid"
11. Never be hasty in your actions. Always consider the outcomes of your actions (Invading too quickly, falling out of line, charging on an enemy, attacking a civilian who attacked you.) Remember el necio es atrevido y el sabio comedido.
12. Follow all orders by superior commanders.
13. Be respectful to your fellow soldiers.
14. Address your superiors respectfully (Males as 'Señor', Females as 'Señora')
15. Address the king as 'Mi Señor', 'Padre', or 'Su Alteza'. Address the prince as 'Mi Señor'
IV. Ranks
1. Ciudadano
Translates to 'Citizen', Ciudadanos are not a member of the military. They will receive a small income bonus in any Spanish-run city, but will not receive any military weapons.
2. Alistamiento
Translates to 'Enlistment', Alistamientos are soldiers who have passed the entrance exam with a score of 80% or higher. They do not spawn on the military team, but may attend trainings and can be promoted (after pledging loyalty). They are to wear the standard Low rank uniform.
3. Soldado
Translates to 'Soldier', or 'Private', Soldados are the first enlisted rank. They may attend raids, line battles, and trainings, and may patrol the city. They have pledged loyalty to Spain, have been assigned to an officer, and have already purchased the full low rank uniform.
4. Soldado de Primera
Translates to 'Private First Class', Soldado de Primeras are not allowed to give any orders to soldiers. They must wear the standard low rank uniform.
5. Cabo
Translates to 'Corporal', Cabos are not allowed to give any orders to soldiers. They must wear the standard low rank uniform.
6. Sargento
Translates to 'Sergeant', Sargentos are to begin training in preparation of becoming an officer. They may command lower rank members, but only if given permission AND supervised by a Teniente Coronel+. They must wear the standard low rank uniform.
7. Alférez
Translates to 'Ensign', Alférez is a transitional rank between low rank and officer. To be promoted to Alférez, you must conduct one training viewed by a General de Brigada+ and must have one letter of recommendation from your assigned officer. Must wear the standard low rank uniform.
8. Teniente
Translates to 'Lieutenant', Teniente is the first officer rank. To be promoted to Teniente, you must demonstrate a flawless knowledge of all English commands and formations. Must demonstrate this knowledge by taking initiative in trainings. They may give commands to all ranks below them. Must wear standard Mid-Rank officer uniform.
9. Capitán
Translates to 'Captain'. To be promoted to Capitán, you must demonstrate and understand the six key characteristics. Capitáns should have a general understanding of the Spanish commands and should be able to host successful trainings and command lines in battle. May command all ranks beneath them. Must wear the standard Mid-Rank officer uniform.
10. Mayor
Translates to 'Major'. To be promoted to Major, you must be a clear fit for officer. This means having nearly all Generals agree that you are a proper fit for Major. May command all ranks beneath them. Must wear the standard Mid-Rank officer uniform.
11. Comandante
Translates to 'Commandant', Comandantes must prepare for all the responsibilities that Teniente Coronel will hold. They may command all ranks beneath them. Must wear the standard Mid-Rank officer uniform.
12. Teniente Coronel
Translates to 'Lieutenant Colonel', Teniente Coronels are responsible for any failures that occur in a rank they are commanding in battle. They must have a perfect understanding of all commands, English and Spanish. They also must learn how to grade the entrance exams before being promoted to Coronel. They may command all ranks beneath them. Must wear standard High Rank uniform.
13. Coronel
Translates to 'Colonel'. To be promoted to Coronel, you must be voted on by High Command and must be prepared for difficult situations which will call for quick thinking and strong leadership. Must be strongly equipped to command all troops. May command all ranks beneath them and may promote Ciudadanos to Alistamiento (After taking the test and receiving 80% or higher), Alistamiento to Soldado (Once they pledge loyalty to España), Soldado to Soldado de Primera (after proving their worth in a training), and Soldado de Primera to Cabo (After proving their worth in a training). Must wear standard High Rank uniform. *If a Coronel is not ready to handle the stress received from handling promotions and low rank issues, they will be demoted*
14. General de Brigada
Translates to 'Brigadier General', General de Brigadas are responsible for the Teniente Coronels and Coronels they command. They may promote Cabo to Sargento (after viewing strong leadership capabilities), Sargento to Alférez (After overseeing a training), Alférez to Teniente (After viewing officer-leadership capabilities), Teniente to Capitán (after demonstrating all six characteristics), and Capitán to Mayor. They are responsible for any unfit officers they promote. They may vote in High Command votes for new High Ranks and Generals. Must wear High Command uniform.
15. General de División
Translates to 'Major General', General de Divisións vote on High Command decisions and are responsible for every soldier they promote. Must wear High Command Uniform.
16. General
General of El Imperio Español Real, will be briefed on their responsibilities upon promotion.
17. Mariscal de Campo
Translates to 'Field Marshal'. The Field Marshal will be briefed on their responsibilities upon promotion.
18. Philip V
Prince of España. Philip is second-in-command of the Empire.
19. Charles II
His Majesty, King Charles II.
V. How to Join
1. Purchase the full uniform
2. Fill out the application below and message it to a Coronel+
3. Meet with a Coronel+ and pledge loyalty to Spain
4. Message your assigned officer to notify him/her that you are his/her new soldier.
