NAME: CPL. JOSEPH WICKES LOCATION: BAR-LE-DUC HP: 88/100 TIME: 14:03 {LAST TIME CHECKED} (PM) WITH: L-CPL. THOMSON | L-CPL. JAMES | PVT. JENKINS | PVT. LEWIS | PVT. COOKE ATTACHMENT: ONE MEDIUM TANK (MATILDA) You count steadily in your mind and then immediately take aim. "FIRE!" You scream; this is followed by an enormous chain of constant gunfire barraging down upon the enemy. The fields of fire are indeed deadly and your entire treehouse squadron confirms around 30 kills within the first discharge of magazines. You immediately swap magazines in an orchestrated fashion and command one of the men to chuck a grenade down. He does and it explodes rather quickly, killing another 3 Germans, which signals the men hidden in the grass to begin firing. The skirmish continues for another 20 minutes and it begins to worry you that the Germans could have both reinforcements and armour heading towards you with a constant, deadly, trajectory towards your now-discovered treehouse. A German infantryman makes a wise decision and fires randomly into the treehouse which hits, directly, one of your men and immediately kills him. You quickly peep down a gap and fire your rifle into the German infantryman - killing him in revenge. How do you plan to continue the battle?

If it is possible then retreat. If not, continue fighting just like this.

COOKE ARMAMENT: ONE MEDIUM TANK (MATILDA) NOTICE: "WITH" AND "ARMAMENT" IS CURRENTLY MISSING IN ACTION! It's always possible to retreat but at a very high cost. You signal for the men to retreat and you each drop from the treehouse into the grass and continue running towards the British section hidden in the thick grassy fields. One of them stands, takes aim but then notices you're British through your helmet and your armament, a Lee-Enfield rifle with a bayonet. They quickly listen to your command and succeed in retreating to the nearest town in a quick fashion leaving the wounded behind to be captured; of course their sacrifice was voluntary. You arrive at Behonne, a small village near Bar-le-Duc, and find that the British High Command have placed a temporary command post within the town to fully operate a game-changing counter attack against the advancing yet tired German army. "Do we have a Corporal here?" They ask. You immediately raise your hand and after a nod from the Officer you approach the table beneath the tent. "Corporal?" The Officer aks. "Corporal Wickes, Sir." You say with a salute. "What happened to the Bar-le-Duc rearguard, Corporal?" He asks another question. "It collapsed when we saw at-least 400 Jerries, Sir." You quickly reply. "How many casualties?" He asks once more. "8 for us, Sir, and another 40, possibly 50, for them, Sir." You answer. "Alright, Wickes, are you ready for a possible promotion earning experience in the war so far?" He asks.

COOKE ARMAMENT: ONE MEDIUM TANK (MATILDA) NOTICE: "WITH" AND "ARMAMENT" IS CURRENTLY MISSING IN ACTION! You begin to count your munitions and find that the camp is lacking ammunition for automatic weapons such as the Lewis gun. You have about a hundred mortar shells remaining and over forty magazines, per man, for the Lee Enfield bolt-action rifles. "It's best if we tell the men to attach bayonets." You whisper to yourself before quickly moving on to the command post. "We have enough bolt action ammo to last us a bit, Sir, and enough mortar shells. Unfortunately, the Lewis gun is worthless. You'll get about five minutes of ammunition out of it. Nothing much; it won't help us hold back the Jerries." You inform. "Alright, chap. Dismissed." The Captain says. You turn around and look to the sandbag fort which has been made around a damaged building - friendly damage, presumably a tank which had gone through the wall on movement. You pick up a pair of binoculars and look through them. You see: NORTH- The north is nothing but the continuing forest for miles. There looks to be a clearing, within the hilly forest, about half-a-mile up but it would take too long to trek and find out what it is on your own. EAST- The east has a large fast-flowing river which is going down a sort of cliff-face towards a large lake. It looks like a defensible position however retreat, from there, would be impossible. SOUTH- The south leads to another smaller town which has been abandoned by the French. There might be some ammunition within the town, food or even water to drink. WEST- The west leads to a large, open clearing which heads towards central France. You would probably stumble upon a large city if you continued this way.

There is a Church and a School- the two biggest buildings. What do you want to search?

You nod to the lowest ranking soldier, a young bespectacled boy who is shaking nervously, he isn't prepared for this war, who quickly pushes the door open and then rushes out of the way of any incoming fire. There is none. You point your Lee-Enfield through the door and steadily walk into the aisle. Nothing. The building is empty. There looks to be a cache of weapons at altar, though. You can see the town in the distance and he has quite a bit to run yet but you have hope that he will be able to cover the distance, twice and once with a massive armoury of weapons, in a short amount of time. You also allow Cooke to set-up a machine gun position within the second-level of the Church Tower (below James' section) and he, with the assistance of Howson and Lewis, manages to construct a sandbag fortress to fortify the entire floor from small calibre and medium calibre rounds. You carefully, yet with some speed, climb the old, damaged, ladders to the top of the tower and greet James. "You notice anything weird yet?" You ask. "Nothing boss. Jenkins should be back soon. I can see movement in the town now." He answers. You nod, tap him on the shoulder and leave your revolver next to him. "To make sure you return if the situation goes sour; I command you bring this to me at the end of the next engagement." You command. He nods and you quickly climb back down the ladders to the level of Cooke and the remainder of your squad. "What we gonna do about our Matilda, Wickes?" Asks Thomson.
