Undertale is like that one game ROBLOX censors for no reason, FN@F. It's a poorly made game with a bad story, bad characters, and bad gameplay in general.

"It's a poorly made game with a bad story, bad characters, and bad gameplay in general." bait tbh.

Disagreed, R9. I'm nowhere mear a fanboy, just a huge gamer (have been my whole life), and it's a well crafted game. Gameplay is enticing, a refreshing blend of RPG elements from games like Earthbound and small-scale bullet hell gameplay. Visuals are nice, they all fit the aesthetic properly and it manages to be immersive while still having a faint mysteriousness reminiscent of a toned down Yume Nikki. The soundtrack is actually kind of enjoyable as the creator has previously proved himself to be a capable chiptune musician. The plot is the one thing anyone can truly criticize (without it being purely opinion), as it's a bit full of itself, it punishes you for playing it like a real RPG, the pacing is poor and for the twist ending to work, information has to be held from you until the end, meaning a full world-building experience requires multiples playthroughs.

i spoiled all of Undertale for myself but it's still enjoyable if you don't know anything about the story, then buy it. if you know every single plot twist, still buy it. "There is no spoone" - The Matricks

If you know every plot twist, play a better RPG.

Well Undertale is really just a reskinned Earthbound when you boil it down. The creator takes almost all of his influence from Earthbound, his roots come from an Earthbound fan game mod, and there are many tropes and ideas that can only be from the game. You wouldn't come out of Undertale and play, say, Golden Sun, but there are many types of 2D RPGs.

I'm not saying it's a ripoff, I'm just highly recommedning it to people who enjoyed Undertale's plot and gameplay. Earthbound was a really deep game that has a huge cult following, and it's always good when games like that get more attention. For example, I'm playing through DMC: Devil May Cry right now. It's really good, but I knew I'd probably enjoy it because I enjoy Devil May Cry, Killer is Dead, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

The ones I listed there are all hack and slash games with silly plots. Although Devil May Cry is more of a puzzle platformer kind of hack and slash.
