they literally are just words like evren = the universe aygül = moon rose demir = steel barış = peace devrim = revolution etc like these are the actual words i mean if you ask "Evren kaç yaşında?" it can either mean "how old is the universe" or "how old is Evren" (name of person) and google translate messes this stuff up all the time

"Is Turkish hard to learn?" the grammar is very very different from english and you wont find a lot of words that are similar to the ones in english like you would in spanish or german or french etc, but turkish is an insanely regular language with rarely any exceptions to its rules at all

Oh okay. Chinese names are similar. Xiao (pronounced SHYOW) is a common name in Chinese full names and it's also the word for small. Respect the science!

Actually no. Google Translate can usually tell if it's a name or a word. Probably because in most sentences I have encountered in Chinese class, the person gives their full name and not just their given name, and Chinese surnames tend to not be regular words, so maybe Google recognizes that? Also fun fact: Chinese names (and most East Asian names) are arranged as Surname Given name. So if someone in China introduced himself as Zhou Bing, his given name is Bing and his surname is Zhou. Respect the science!

Devrim Solak = revolution left-handed Evren Bulut = universe cloud Kudret Çiftçi = power farmer etc google translate is just awful for turkish lol

I think you can suggest corrections to GT if your translation is inaccurate, but even then, that poses its own problems. But yeah, even though GT gets Chinese names right, the grammar usually ends up being garbage, so it's not exactly good with Chinese either. Respect the science!

lol the correction suggestions on youtube are crap like if you ever volunteer to help google translate by validating suggested translations, youll see a lot of very inaccurate troll-ish things

True P sure that's why Somalian often translates to stuff along the lines of "ooga ooga oooh" or something like that. Or it might have been just that one phrase. IDK. 我上午八点读书。- I read eight o'clock. That's just one example of the pitfall of using an online translator. "At 8:00AM, I like to read books" is what I was saying. The English could certainly use some work. Respect the science!
