It's probably not a bot, just a really lonely person. It reminds me of the Buffy the Vampire slayer online forum, where this guy called Jamie would post threads and reply to himself.

But if they don't reply to anything in the thread and recite from some source and reply as fast as possible non-stop, then that's pretty much an obvious sign of it being a bot.
