but they help you differentiate between who isn't an intellect and who is.
if you explain the same question in 3 different ways, let's say how to 4+4, there are certain people who are more intelligent than others, and therefore they get it a lot faster, perhaps already in the first explanation |

imo, they show you how much people care about their futures |

saying school in general defines intelligence let alone grades is p. bad
but first, i need to ask you, define 'intelligence', the ability to acquire knowledge and retain it easily? creativity?
intelligence has many faucets and they're not always apparent |

why
i'm on my worst behavior |
|
|
i think a better way to put it would be 'intelligence does not necessarily define grades'
|
|
|
don't mind that
I'm always on invisible
I have a lot of contacts and a lot of people message, people I don't want to talk to but whose feelings I don't want to hurt, so I put on invisible so no one really knows when I'm ignoring them |
|
|
Ravi

"imo, they show you how much people care about their futures"
definitely.
i've always been smart, in fact in my younger years i was always in gifted classes
but when i got older i stopped caring and my grades slipped
i ended up failing english, which was always my best subject
and in the end i gave up on school completely
i know im smart. i could have done it. but i didnt care. and now im here.

@Muffled - we have a broken school system that has definitely failed a lot of people. i didn't care about grades at all in middle school and i kind of just drifted by, but something changed in high school and i thought, well, i'm opposed to this system on principle, but if good grades will help me reach my goals, then i might as well suck it up. |

Agreed.
For example, many people say that chess defines intelligence, but a person with a low IQ who's played the game for months is bound to beat a highly intelligent person who just recently learned the rules of the game.
But the highly intelligent person may be able to understand the concept much faster than the person with lower intelligence.
It's all in your psychology |

That's why I go to private school tbh. The teachers here really cater to us and our learning needs, i.e our math teacher helps us with what we need, rather than just spewing out unneeded homework and classwork. It's really great.
Regarding the original topic, it really depends. There's a difference between memorizing and being able to apply said things. A person who's good at math is better at math than a person who's not as good. That's a given, yea you're more intellectual if you're at a higher math level. History? Not so much. If a person who's very smart just doesn't put in the effort to study dates in history, doesn't mean they're less intellectual than a person that just put some effort into memorizing dates.
It all depends on the classes, really. But like I said, private school. It might be different where I go.
OP thinks he's so smart when his stupidity is so stupid it actually borders intelligence |
