>get a .rar file
>computer goes "cant find a program to open with this"
>choose windows media player
>BAD. MISTAKE.

(desired program here)
check "Use this to open"
That's how I remember it.

.RARs are annoying, I'd suggest getting Free RAR Opener or WinRAR (winrar costs I think)

1. Go to the folder of the file you're changing.
2. Right-click --> open with / point to open --> choose default program --> choose it, change some settings if you want.

7-zip is not the best
in fact I think its crud
Also, what version of windows are you using? I know they kicked Media Player in modern versions of windows |

Not everyone is tech literate. They're not dumb because they tried to use Media Player to open a .rar .. it's just a mistake.

I use PeaZip because it works, not very well but it works and gets the job done.
