https://coronalabs[DOT]com/ "Corona is designed to enable super-fast development. Our elegant APIs make adding complex features easy, our workflow lets you see changes instantly, and you develop in Lua, a fast and easy-to-learn language." oh god this is my dream come true ANDROID + IOS ALL IN LUA ====== we must evacuate to corona labs and start making some apps cuz lua is too easy for us But seriously, I will be investigating into this... what are your ideas on this AWESOMENESs?!?!?!?

I thought that Cocos2d-x had this capability. No, it does not, it still requires C. their website lies thanks for telling me

Lua is a crap language, why would anyone want to develop in it?

lua is easy, simple, and most of all.............. AWESOMEEEEEEEE! um yah like all games on roblox run on lua so like BAM! WOT!

#182908586Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:07 AM GMT

That's because no other languages are available on Roblox.

#182908618Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:07 AM GMT

Actually Roblox itself is done in C++, but of course for developing they give us Lua. Most of the hard work is done in C++ though.

#182908661Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:08 AM GMT

No, it's probably C#. C++ is used for 2D game development.

#182908707Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:09 AM GMT

precisely why i posted this thread! - c++ is *hard*, well its easy if you learn it, but its more complicated than lua. and simple > complex (in some situations)

Is that sarcasm? Lua is implemented in C (Unless you get a modified version), and Direct3D is only supported in C++ currently, so I would say C++ is better for game development anyways.

We used something like this in my introductory computer science course a few years back. There are plenty of software development kits like it.

@Darkenus So what? There are other simple languages that aren't complete crap.

"o, it's probably C#. C++ is used for 2D game development." oh my god you're super dumb c# can make 2d games too, and c++ can also make 3d games (*cough* unreal engine) a programming language does not restrict its graphics. it's environment does, however. you underestimate the power of the dank side

#182911240Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:49 AM GMT

C# is just C++ without having to manually manage all of the memory.

Well the thing is, a lot of us in the Scripters forum know Lua. And for like *years* we've been using for one purpose: Roblox Development - whether it be a hobby, or to make games. Now, with this cool kit, we can keep our knowledge and continue expanding it - without having to learn a whole new language. It also allows us to practice Lua in different ways. I think it's awesome - and I'm sure I'll be researching more and more into it now!

#182911761Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:56 AM GMT

uh no darkenus, the scripters forum got really bored of lua a long time ago and started going beyond and thus learning more. you underestimate the power of the dank side
Darkenus
#182911896Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1:57 AM GMT

Oh rlly m8. Then how is ~80%+ of the Scripters forum Lua related? also, im sure you guys know a lot of other languages, but you still do know Lua - as its too simple to forget
cpmoderator12345
#182912348Wednesday, February 03, 2016 2:04 AM GMT

Sure, all of us know lua, but most of us don't give a crap about it anymore but still know how to do stuff in it you underestimate the power of the dank side

@forever "Lua is a powerful, fast, lightweight, embeddable scripting language." - Lua website

Yeah, cpmoderator speaks for all of us when he says that (~15% actually, I would guess)

I'd rather use Love2D as the new version has come out with ports to android and iOS so mobile development with Love2D yay.
