MAYORAL & CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Greetings, to all residents of Norfolk. The Mayoral Elections are incoming very soon on February 22nd, and this document will provide you with everything you need to know to about the elections including procedures, prerequisites, rules, and important MANDATORY dates for the elections.
Electoral rules:
⇒ You cannot commit any crimes while running during these elections. Doing so can result in a disqualification.
⇒ You can only post one advertisement per group wall page. Spamming the group wall can result in a disqualification.
⇒ You cannot start campaigning before October 12th. This includes support threads and support groups.
⇒ Slandering other candidates can result in a disqualification. Keep the election friendly for all parties.
⇒ If you have a strong criminal past you cannot run for Mayor/Deputy Mayor of Norfolk.
Qualifications for elections:
⇒ You must be a Norfolk resident.
⇒ You cannot have a Criminal record before, during, or after the elections.
⇒ For the Mayoral Elections, you must run on a ticket of a Mayor and Deputy Mayor. (This means you need to have a Deputy Mayor to run for Mayor and so-forth).
⇒ For those that are not Incumbent and running for re-election. You must have a signature thread of (5) for City Council & (15) for Mayor/Deputy Mayor in order to be placed on the ballot.
Spring Election Schedule:
⇒ February 18th. Campaigning begins. Campaigning on the wall & within the City may begin. (Keep a minimum to one post per page on the group wall while advertising).
⇒ February 19th. Campaigning continues as usual and the same electoral rules apply.
⇒ February 20th. Campaigning continues as usual with same electoral rules.
⇒ February 21nd. Campaigning continues as usual with same electoral rules. The ballot for voting opens up at 5:00 PM EST.
⇒ February 22nd. Election Day. Campaigning continues as usual with same electoral rules. The ballot closes at 8:00 PM EST. New Mayor/Deputy Mayor is sworn in for the new term.
Please note that breaking any of the electoral rules can get you disqualified from the Mayoral/Councilmen elections.
