Finding something in the characters radius

This is hard to explain... So for example, I put a local script in the startergui and find the physical character of the owner of the startergui folder and the script finds the characters torso and scans in a 10 stud radius for a specific item (while true do).. How would I do that? I know how to find the character and torso but not the scan in a 10 stud radius. Roblox zombies scan for torsos and Im trying to scan for a specific NPC
