What hardware do you have in your computer? You can cut the crap Jarod, we all know you use a quantum rock.
Have you hosted a server before? What did you use for it? Like, the solution for it. Because I've got a VPS for the CrescentCode server, but of course if you start looking at things like game servers there's just no way I could realistically host something like that on the CrescentCode VPS.
On the subject of servers, have you had a Minecraft server? Was it modded? I've got a modded Skyblock which is kcauldron ready, but apparently people don't like Skyblock.
Have you ever thought about getting server hardware and using it for gaming? I don't think it would be too bad - Get a dual-CPU motherboard, couple of discontinued Xeons, some cheap server RAM and stick a graphics card in the only PCI-E slot, and hope it works. It would be cheap, and you could have 8 cores / 16 threads on it just in case you wanted to have use of Vulkan/DX12 or wanted to run other stuff like encoding software, but all the people I've talked to so far say "Oh no that won't work there's no way that will work it's server hardware" :c

Are you a student? Have you gotten any free stuff from being a student to date? What did you get? GitHub has a nice pack of stuff that might prove useful if you enjoy being a cheapskate and just love the novelty of free things.
You guys really need to give me more ideas for these things I run out of ideas really quickly because I just don't write them down.

As always, I hope you're enlightened. If I did videos, would you enjoy it? I really really want to do videos, but equally I don't. I have a love/hate relationship with videos, just like with you guys.

Xeons aren't really meant for gaming: gaming prefers fewer, faster cores; while server stuff prefers more, slower cores.

I know, I know, but Vulkan/DX12 would love it. Also even discontinued Xeons are built on the old Sandy Bridge chipsets, which are in the Core series. The only major thing I can think of being an issue is the lack of graphics stuff on the chipset which can be painful if/when anything decides to unload stuff to the CPU because it won't have what it's expecting. |
