Vaktovians,
As you can discern from the title of this thread, I am writing to inform you all of the details of our Empire's next step forward in technology. This project has been through many forms, and taken many iterations, and until recently had been on hiatus for a variety of reasons. I came to the decision that this project was far too important to be left to collect dust, and so for the past two weeks, I have personally been managing the revival and completion of the project along with Senior Colonel Opacor. Now, I am pleased to announce that at long last, the Vaktovian Firearms Update is ready to deployed.
What is the Vaktovians Firearms Update? That is what I will be detailing in this thread, and below is a full changelog of all the new additions and improvements to our guns. Over the course of tonight, and the next few days, we will be deploying this new technology across all of our facilities, including Swampy Moon Outpost, Recruitment Centre, and the Vaktovian Training Grounds.
I hope that you will all be pleased with the new features, upgrades and designs that form the importance of this update. CHANGE LOG:
This is the fundamental reason for the project's invention. Our guns needed to be updated for this to be possible. With Filtering Enabled, many (not all) exploits are patched through communication between the server and the client. Some examples of patched exploits are speedhacking and inserting objects (e.g. UFOs).
At least for now, all stats on the guns have been kept the same. To reiterate one more time, the Vaktovian's StA-55 and the Raider's M-55 are identical.
StA-55 / M-55:
- Flashlight ADDED
- Laser pointer ADDED
- Holographic ammo display ADDED
- New lazer flash effect
Medi-Gun:
- New model
- Passive recharging
- Chain-healing players in the area with visual effects
- No longer possible to waste charge by clicking (charge only decreases when healing someone)
Officer Pistol:
- Sprinting is now possible with the Officer Pistol
- One-handed pose re-introduced
Name Hiding:
Your name ALWAYS shows to your teammates. This is a big improvement because it means you can easily see when your allies need healing instead of having to spam the + icon. Your name is default hidden to enemies, but you can change that if you want.
Health Bar:
This is another big change. Your health bar is now split into two sections, the upper 50% health and the lower 50% health. Your health automatically regenerates up to 50%, but stops there. After that, you need a teammate to heal you. This helps people in solo situations and gives people a chance to recover from a bad situation.
Sprinting and Crouching:
Sprinting is now possible with MOST tools, or without a tool equipped. There are certain exceptions to this rule, such as not being able to sprint with a sword.
New crouch has been added for better stability. You no longer bounce in certain circumstances when activating crouch.
You will notice a big upgrade in the visuals and fluency of the new GUIs compared with what we have settled with for a long time. Changes include:
- Icon for equipped weapon in the bottom right corner of the screen
- New ammunition display (this changes colour depending on your remaining ammo)
- New health bar, split into two parts
- New tool icons along the bottom of the screen
- New symbol indicators/buttons for attachments and features (left side of screen)
- New backpack and settings tabs
- New bin icon added to easily move tools to the backpack
Backpack:
Settings tab has been vastly improved. You can toggle blood effects, hit marker noises, but best of all, you can save custom tool configurations that save for every server of the game. This means you can set up your hotkeys and which items are in your backpack, and it will save permanently.
- New sounds for certain weapons
- Upon dying, a red effect appears on screen
