english should be for immigrants or kids who dont know english, not for the kids who are pure english

im actually in 12th grade, and i dont know what class you're taking but all we do in english at this point is over analyze the same old books they've been teaching for the last 30 years and try and act as if they hold some sort of divine meaning which we need to interpret.....
but yeah it makes you look super smart and mature to defend literally every part of the school curriculum, i get it. edgy teenagers questioning stuff, right??? xD |

I wish they'd do something to just remedy the kind of behavior that results in kids growing up only being able to say things like, "hit me up boi an' dow'load muh mixtape hue hue hue am i right, dawg hahaehawhahwhahaha didjoo see the game last night my boi".

I agree that literature is lost on morons like you and probably shouldn't be required. However most people will be writing things for a good portion of their lives (jobs included). Above all, people need TO BE UNDERSTOOD. This requires knowing the finer points of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the minimization of dialect in formal settings. Also of use is style and prose (which is STILL important in non-narrative writing). Literature can help for the latter two, but tbh your kind of idiot will probably not benefit the least from it because of your unnecessary belligerence to a system put in place to help you. I'm not saying the curriculum and style of teaching is perfect, I'm just saying that English is important too. |

yeah, its not the most difficult class, but thats not a reason for it to be mandatory every year
by 12th grade it gets extremely repetitive, there are only so many books you can have us break down and "critically analyze"... |
