some people with autism include:
albert einstein
sir isaac newton
charles darwin
amadeus mozart
bill gates
so the richest an alive, arguably the 3 greatest scientists ever, and possibly the greatest composer ever had autism yet it's still used as an insult
I had a friend with autism and he could solve a rubik's cube in 10 seconds and was excelled in every class
despite social issues and speech issues, people with autism tend to to have advanced knowledge

I hate when people on the Internet do that.
They're just being ignorant and inconsiderate. |

because people want to feel better about themselves so they go on the internet and call other people autistic
|
|

Autism often isn't used as an insult associated with intelligence so much as it is just social awkwardness. |

because they refer to it as something people that are socially disabled have although tath's not always true. kids don;'t understand ehat it actually is until they experience it themselveds |

Basically what Puppy said. I have Asperger's myself and I don't really care too much about autism jokes and I'll usually laugh at them. I don't really take any offense to them and I'll even call other people autistic if they act like a total sperg. |

"But.... But....

I was going to say the same thing, I just decided not to because I knew OP would say 'but...but...E=MC2 and Gravity'

"I was going to say the same thing, I just decided not to because I knew OP would say 'but...but...E=MC2 and Gravity'"
That's everyone's argument when it comes to defending overly-praised scientists. Don't get me wrong, their discoveries were HUGE, but you rarely hear about the guy who discovered viruses. You rarely hear about the guy who invented penicillin anymore. You rarely hear about the guy who discovered swine flu.
|
|
|
yes because the discovery of AlDS and the flu is more important than gravity |
|
|
you might as well protest about
"underrated scientists deserve attention to!!11"
the fact of the matter is that those are the most FAMOUS people with autism and there is probably a lot of other notable scientists who had it as well but just aren't as famous. |
|
|
Well, the discovery of such vital medicines such as penicillin increased the human lifespan and healthspan. |

"yes because the discovery of AlDS and the flu is more important than gravity"
Lets see outcomes of not discovering gravity:
No space travel
and other things
Lets see outcomes of not discovering A1ds and the flu:
Millions of deaths - Check

"yes because the discovery of AlDS and the flu is more important than gravity"
It is.
(Peter Piot also discovered Ebola, thought I should note that).
We could still be alive if we didn't know about gravity.
We probably WOULDN'T be alive (at least a vast majority of us) if antibiotics weren't invented, or if the flu was discovered (and subsequently, the discoveries of treatments). The flu and bacterial infections were killing people by the MILLIONS, and the discovery of what they actually were saved many lives.
The discovery of gravity was great, don't get me wrong, but it had little to no real practicality at the time.

Yes and those viruses would have been discovered otherwise. If millions of people were dying of an unknown disease, i'm sure other people in the world would actually attempt to find out what it is as well.
|
|
|
Well, then the discovery would be even MORE important. |

"Yes and those viruses would have been discovered otherwise. If millions of people were dying of an unknown disease, i'm sure other people in the world would actually attempt to find out what it is as well."
Same could be said for gravity. The urgency of gravity's discovery was very small. We could have discovered it just last year, and it wouldn't have had a big impact on human lifespan.
The discovery of viruses, bacteria, and parasites, as well as the cures, vaccinations, and treatments that go along with them as increased the human lifespan by decades.
