This is the official training manual for TTCN. Master and Commanders+ may host trainings. Midshipman-Lieutenant may host drills. Recommendations (Recs) can be given to anyone at trainings or drills, based off of their performance. We expect quality of our navy, and for it to be the best of them all. Do not rush trainings. Trainers are expected to follow this manual almost, if not exactly on point. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬|★★★★|▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Recommendations: This explains how many recs are possible during training or drill. Trainings and Drills are the only time that you may give recs. The amount of people below excludes officers and admirals who are not in line, or other trainers. 1-4 People: 1 Rec 5-7 People: 2 Recs 8-11 People: 3 Recs 11-15 People: 4 Recs 16-19 People: 5 Recs 20-25 People: 6 Recs 26-30 People: 7 Recs 31+ People: 8 Recs ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬|★★★★|▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I. Inspection Line up all sailors in a STS line, and have them shoulder arms. Inspect their uniforms to make sure that they are wearing the correct pants, correct shirt matching their rank, correct hat matching their rank, and that they are not wearing t-shirts besides TTCN/TTC-awarded medals of honor. If they have any hats that obstruct or block the viewing of their rank hat, have them remove it. II. Faces Run the sailors through their faces and inclines. This is excellent practice for ceremonial events, or drilling. III. Marksmanship Have the sailors fire one by one down the line trying to hit one of the dummies located at the port. There is no requirement as to where the dummy must be hit, as long as either the head or torso light up red (or both) then that sailor may move on and prepare for the next section. IV. Boarding Procedure Run the sailors through the boarding procedure and have them practice it. V. Firing Drills Have the sailors board a ship. Pair them up into groups of 2 or less. Now, send each group one at a time into the gundeck to fire the cannons. Time them with a stopwatch or clock, and do not let them move on until they have successfully fired a side of the ship within the required amount of time. Sloop: Under 5 seconds Brig: Under 15 seconds Frigate: Under 25 seconds Any ship larger than a frigate: Indefinite VI. Sailing Teach the sailors the importance of listening to commands and paying attention at all times. Now, teach them the sailing speeds and who can stand and when. After that is complete, run through the sailing commands (Found in the Seamanship Manual... example "Beat to Quarters!"). Optional: Briefly explain to the sailors how to use bayonets. VII. Sword Fighting While remaining on the ship, the captain will hold a sword fighting tournament on the weatherdeck. Explain to the sailors how learning to fight on a ship environment can help them when boarding or being boarded. The captain (or last person to touch the helm) will not participate, in order to keep the ship afloat. VIII. Boarding/Being Boarded Now, the officer will summon another ship to sit as close as possible to his/her own ship where the crew are. After that, the officer will then divide the sailors into two teams, one on ship A and one on ship B. The officer will now explain how to effectively board a ship (without falling into the water) and how to fight on the ship environment. Teach them to identify and target the highest-ranking officers first, in an attempt to sink the ship. Teach them that only about half of the people on the friendly ship should board the enemy ship, to ensure that there is still crew leftover incase the boarding party drowns. In the event of a boarding (boarding or being boarded) the captain or last person to touch the helm as well as one trusted sailor (if not another officer) should be evacuated to the Captain's Quarters, where they are out of harm's way and can observe the battle. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬|★★★★|▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Extended Training Procedure: You may choose one of these two activities for after the training has been completed and recs have been awarded. I. Ship Battle Requires at least 2 officers, this will allow the men to practice actual combat in a live scenario. There will be one commanding officer on each side, along with an even number of sailors. II. Raid Requires somebody from the Admiralty, this will allow the men to practice combat in a live and hostile environment (whether at a friendly port, or at a hostile port) against another navy to test our skill. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬|★★★★|▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Drilling Procedure: I. Inspection II. Faces/Inclines III. Marksmanship IV. Boarding Procedure V. Firing Drills ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬|★★★★|▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ~Signed, SirDarkday560, Commander in Chief of TTCN
