I will be giving a couple reasons why I think this. Roblox is saying this will help the economy but how so? Roblox was clearly not thinking about the average player. They are thinking about the money in their pocket. I don't see anyway you can get robux outside of purchasing it and creating game passes and such if they don't have BC. There is a problem with both. Not everyone wants to spend real life money getting robux or buying BC. Game passes might be fine at first but once everyone spends their money they will have nothing left. Do you see the problem? This will end up creating something similar to irl where most of the currency is owned by a small percentage of users. This will lead to players have little to no robux to spend (AKA the lower class) and Game Developers having most of the robux (AKA Upper class/1%) Roblox needs to see that it isn't all about making money. It is about the players who play the game. More games will become pay to win in order for developers to make profit. This update only helps the small majority of people who develop successful games. "The impetus behind removing tickets is not to make more money. The primary reasons have always been product simplicity, botting, and not incentivizing certain behaviors." This is honestly the biggest lie They could have said. This update makes it so more players have to buy robux or buy BC in order to do anything on this site. this downgrade is inevitably going to incentivize purchasing robux with real life money, and the roblox developers absolutely know this because they made the "price floor" for the same reason. actually bothers to talk about "simplicity" when a majority of major site updates make everything hard to use (example: user profiles) "Although familiar to many of us, they are confusing to first-time users." I honestly want to find where roblox found this "fact" It is only confusing to kids who don't know how to count over 10. With every update Roblox is finding a way to make everyone mad. Butch Jones is the real Messiah.

dr you know how they said they'd lower the price floor to 5 R$? Well guess what, instead of 100 tix, 5R$ is the equivalent of 139 tix. Therefore they raised the price floor

The price floor actually raised. The rate is 26:1 rn and 5x26 is 126. That's even more than before. #Code print "I ᴀᴍ ᴛʜᴇ Kᴇʏʙᴏᴀʀᴅ Wᴀʀʀɪᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ғᴏʀᴜᴍs ᴅᴇsᴇʀᴠᴇ﹐ ʙᴜᴛ ɴᴏᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴᴇ ɪᴛ ɴᴇᴇᴅs."

They actually said they are putting that down to a 16:1 ratio which means 16 times 5 = 80 so they actually are decreasing it. But I agree this will be doomed from the start. I support this.

What my buddy Firecake wrote http://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=185401261 "got a lot of time to kill and this will be an interesting case study moving forward, so here's my 2 cents. i have had a lot of experience on this site (unfortunately or not) and i can tell you a few things about the way things usually go around here: 1. this will initially "backfire" and the toddlers will be outraged 2. people will forget about it ever existing 3. life will continue as normal until another rollout that nobody wanted comes along some people will leave, but not many, because kids are addicted to this stuff and they will continue to be. i know i was, and a lot of us here definitely were so hooked on this site that we would stay in and skip out on real life to play here. roblox is a company, and no kidding that they want to make money. this rollout will do that, but increasingly the internet is being monetized and you can't really blame them for doing this, they're following the trend. i'm going to ramble for a little bit, but here is what's going through my mind as i look at this with my business analyst cap on. first let's take some statements from the article: "ROBUX formed the backbone of our economy, while Tickets were designed to reward participation (building stuff and playing the game) without giving out free ROBUX (which would cause inflation for all users who purchased them)." sure, this is a great model. you are providing your users with the instant gratification while still keeping a handle on the virtual economy. at the time, you also have to remember that ROBLOX was in 100% control of their virtual economy. everything available for purchase except shirts, pants, and T-shirts was created through the company directly, and they could control price gouging and what not. the only incentives for buying builders club or more R$ were to either (a) buy more items for your account, the price of which was controlled by ROBLOX, or (b) have a subscription so that you could access some minor upgrades (more places, etc.) "Today, the economy in ROBLOX is more and more driven by developers" this is definitely true. a user priced and user created economy is going to replace the old model almost completely now that the user hat/gear/whatever rollouts are coming. recently, pay for access and paid items have also created a big shift from the old way of doing business on here. "The ticket bonus for place visits has become a very small factor to most developers relative to the ROBUX economy." this is where they start to get into a little bit of a murky situation. yes, the biggest developers on the site who are using their "cash out" stuff to get paid tens of thousands of dollars a month are making BANK from R$ transactions. but the only reason these huge devs are able to make so much money is because of the consumers. consumers who will (a) never develop as well as the 16-18 year olds who dominate the scene and (b) not buy builders club because they are not so invested in this game as to spend real money. for most of the developers, sure, it is important, but for the base of the site, R$ are a blip on the radar. tickets are the way that transactions take place for those of us who do not have massive amounts of R$ sitting in our accounts from creating high quality, massively popular games. "Although familiar to many of us, they are confusing to first-time users. We believe removing tickets will simplify our product in all areas, from the UI to the catalog to user-accounting." this is where the dumb reasons come out. just say that you are trying to support developers and want people to spend money on R$. they don't need to convince us that this is the right way to go, the issue is being forced on the base users anyway. "As our platform has matured, we believe the reason to come to ROBLOX should be the desire to experience incredible things with your friends. We do not want to incentivize people to “check in” every day." if this is a real reason, it's stupid. the majority of people on here cannot and will not comprehend advanced coding and game design because they are 10 y/os who lack basic communication skills, let alone the ability to code at a semi-professional level. this is biting the hand that feeds you in its simplest form. "For our deeply engaged users we want to be able to provide more valuable rewards that are not directly tied to login. Over time, we will unveil a rich achievement system on ROBLOX that rewards and recognizes behavior that we think is noteworthy. In the interim, while we are going through this transition, we will be making several gifts available to our users based on their engagement. We will be announcing these gifts tomorrow on the blog." this paragraph is overlooked by a lot of the analysis that has already gone on. we may still see incentive based rewards such as log-in bonuses, maybe just not daily check-ins that earn you free currency. as long as the "deeply engaged" community is not just the developers who run the site right now, this could still all blow over without much of a mark on the company. "There is another benefit to removing tickets, and that is it removes the incentive to create alt accounts. We don’t believe it makes sense to provide a currency bonus to having multiple accounts, as this drives behavior that is not at the core of ROBLOX." this is not a real issue. most people make alts because they are frequently banned, not to get free money. again, if they would just be straight up it would make this go a lot easier. "The impetus behind removing tickets is not to make more money. The primary reasons have always been product simplicity, botting, and not incentivizing certain behaviors." sure, but incentivizing those behaviors is literally all that this site has done to generate a base. i don't see how giving free TIX, which are essentially worthless, to people for logging in is destroying the virtual economy. a very small minority of people may bot the system, but they can probably do that in any system, as mentioned later in the article. product simplicity should not trump product accessibility, which is what the ROBLOX devs are doing by removing a basic, free for all currency that allows people to actively engage with their site. "Trade currency will close. Users will no longer be able to exchange currency with one another." an undiscovered gem of this site for many. real time trading, even on a small scale, which was very fun for me for a long time. the currency exchange will be dearly missed by the very active community which it supported. "Q: ROBLOX doesn’t care about base-level players, the majority of our Monthly Active Users. Every player who ever supports us through ROBUX or Builders Club was originally a base-level player. We understand this dearly. We understand that if we make ROBLOX less attractive for base-level players, over time we will have fewer monetizing players." yeah, they understand this, but they don't understand the economics behind this decision. i'll segue into a better analysis now: right now, the ROBLOX virtual economy is a self-satisfying loop that works very well. low level (base) players are given a stipend, call it a basic universal income, for logging in. they can, if they chose to invest such time into doing so, create games to gain more money, but everyone is allowed to participate in the economy for just participating in the site. users who choose to do so may pay real money to enhance their experience, which is a perfectly fine method of realistically monetizing any game. the loop is created when base level users use their currency earned by participating in the site by participating even more. what i mean is customizing their avatars with clothing, hats, etc. most purchased directly from the company, thus taking the money out of circulation. small transfers occur currently within the economy with users end-to-end, but eventually all of the money ends up in 1 place: back in the hands of ROBLOX, and thus out of circulation. this works well because it allows millions of people to participate on a casual level with a notably reduced experience, but still an enjoyable one. a small portion of people who choose to enhance their experiences may do so and benefit off of this with the ability to increase their virtual wealth THANKS TO the contributions of the lower level base players through the following methods: 1. clothing sales 2. gamepass/similar game item sales 3. up-trading clothing items ROBLOX itself admits that a very small portion of the economy currently functions on place visits, which in their mind is why the TIX removal will not affect the developers. but a major part of the equation that they are missing is that return business generated by an immersive experience at the BASE level is what keeps the rest of the developers afloat. they are increasing the methods by which the top developers can monetize their contributions to the site, but are now decreasing the methods by which base level players can truly interact with the games. if i log in for the first time and find that i have to pay 100R$ in order to play xyz game, i'm looking for some way to get this 100R$. conveniently for me, there is 10TIX sitting in my account and i soon discover that i get a daily stipend for logging on, and i will earn more base level currency for building my own successful games. cool, but i have no idea how to do anything on this site, so i think i will just keep logging in for now and interacting with the site that i am starting to enjoy. now i'm hooked, playing every day, enjoying my log in bonus, and eventually i have 1000TIX and i exchange it for 100R$ and now i'm playing that cool game and it's totally awesome. in a parallel situation which we soon see, if the only way to get the 100R$ is to BUY it, either through a subscription or a 1-time payment, i'm guaranteed to be less likely to generate return business. this is a very bad thing for ROBLOX, because their attracted target is groups of young kids who almost surely have no coding experience and no capability to monetize their games in order to interact with the economy. if you take away the motor that makes the virtual economy run, you're left without an economy. i know this is starting to turn into a rambling session, so i'll just end it on this note and probably come back this later: this is a dumb move because they're biting the hand that feeds them in order to service the developers, which is a nice thought on paper, but in practice i don't really see what the invisible issue that they are attempting to fix is." Butch Jones is the real Messiah.

I have signed this because I ##### agree with this thread. TIX are essential to the virtual economy of ROBLOX. It would be like taking ##### out of U.#. ########. ######## TIX would cause an economical collapse ###### over exaggerated, maybe not) because of no ######## in small value. If it doesn't make sense to you now, think it over. You'## get it.##############, ###############
