Well yes, the president ultimately signs off on a bill or could veto them. But that isn't his only job.

"propose laws"
That's the legislative branch also known as the Congress. |
|
|
The power of the Executive Branch is vested in the President of the United States, who also acts as head of state and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. The President is responsible for implementing and enforcing the laws written by Congress and, to that end, appoints the heads of the federal agencies, including the Cabinet. The Vice President is also part of the Executive Branch, ready to assume the Presidency should the need arise.
Got this off the whitehouse website |

this is stuff ppl should have a slightly vague understanding of without looking it up
its kinda sad that people completely forget the jobs of their country's leaders. that just makes it even easier for them to take advantage of you as seen in places like illinois

Actually the president can propose laws just like the congress. Though he will have to pass it through a lot more.
And yes you hit most if not all the very basic ones.
And your google description isn't approved here, in your own words is what I was looking for.

The judicial branch doesn't enforce laws, lmao.
The judicial branch is in charge of deciding the meaning of laws, the application of laws, and if they are unconstitutional or not.
The Executive branch enforces and implements laws and treaties.
The Legislative branch creates laws and treaties. |

This is basic 7th grade government.
Steamsport, I thought you were smarter than this. |
|
|
Now can someone without the text book definition explain the practical job of the president?

The judicial branch enforces laws para, where does a murderer go when he kills someone?
Court
Court enforces a punishment for a law being broken
it's for sure a judicial based thing, because the president doesn't directly state what is right and wrong lol.

steam please tell me you're joking with calling para's statement idiotic
the job of the executive branch is to "execute" the law and enforce it.
the job of the judicial branch is to review it and judge its constitutionality. |
|
|
mm nvm, I brain farted and simplified things too much in my mind.
I remember now why the executive branch enforces laws.

You didn't say the president. You said the Executive branch, which includes more than just the president.
The president is the Commander-in-Chief. He can sign or veto legislation. He can propose bills. He can make treaties with Senate approval. He can receive ambassadors and work with other nations. He appoints department heads with Senate approval, as well as Supreme Court Justices and Federal Court Judges. He can issue executive orders. He can issue pardons for federal offenses. He can convene Congress. He delivers a State of the Union address to Congress. |
|
|
No actually it was a legitimate question because of a different thread.
There isn't even a high horse to be on.
