One man approaches you with his gun, some sort of automatic rifle, pointed at you. He walks towards you cautiously. As he gets closer, you realize that he's in full military uniform, the helmet and all. "Hey, hands up where I can see them!"

The man lowers his gun slightly, obviously surprised to see that you're human.
"Identify yourself," he commands.

He lowers his gun and walks towards you. "Oh, so you really are human..."
He thinks for a second.
"Sorry about the gun. It's just protocol. Anyways, I'm Casey, a marine in the US military."

"Yeah. Luckily for you, there's a lot more of us. The military, I mean. Come, I've got to get back to my squad."
He hands you a bottle of water. "Here, take it. I already drank enough."
You take the bottle and follow him back to a military jeep. There's another man inside, also dressed in military uniform.
"Hey, Thomas, I found a survivor!"
Thomas hops out of the jeep and welcomes you. "Awesome. Hop in the back, we'll get you back to the base as soon as the other two get back."

I climb into the back of the Jeep.
"So, ya'll have a base around here?" |

"Yeah, up in the north, on the coast. We send out jeeps like this once a week to find survivors and gather supplies," Casey says.
"Hey!"
You turn around thinking some trouble has come about, but you just see two marines walking towards the jeep, laughing.
After an exchange of handshakes with Casey and Thomas, they introduce themselves.
"Hey, I'm Frank."
"Good to see a new face. I'm Oliver."

The other two marines hop in. One next to you and one standing on the back of the jeep, his gun armed and keeping watch as the jeep begins to move.
"Alright, back to HQ," Casey says.

"I wouldn't say significant," Casey begins, "but we do have between 30 and 50 or so stationed up on the coast."
Frank cuts in, "It's about an hour drive through the mountains, though. Good thing is, we've got a small outpost, maybe about six soldiers, positioned up on that pass."

"Yeah, get's lonely out here."
The jeep pulls into a barricade at the top of a steep mountain road. Two soldiers stand on either side of it, and you spot two more in the tower on the right, one in the left tower, and one roaming around in the back.
"Hey, we're here to deliver a new survivor back to the HQ," Casey says to one of the barricade soldiers.
The soldier nods and makes way as the jeep passes through.

All you can see through your window are trees and mountainside as the jeep drives down the path.
"Hey, what was your job before the apocalypse, David?" Casey asks.

H) Waiter

"Firefighter, huh," Thomas starts, "Well, at least you're not very different from us. Just haven't used a gun in your job."
"We're here!" Casey says.
You look out the window and see the jeep pull into a large lot surrounded by office buildings. You notice that on every floor the windows have been barricaded by whatever the marines could find.
The jeep pulls past the front gate, which was protected by at least six soldiers, maybe more.
Finally, it stops next to several other jeeps. You see one building in particular has people without military uniforms - men, women, and children - walking in and out. That must be where the refugees stay.
The other soldiers hop out of the jeep and greet the other marines waiting at the base.
