uhhhh the only churches i've ever been to used traditional hymns and the anglican catholic one also had some gregorian chanting going on, too idk where to find a good example of that, though

The whole Disc 4 of Anthology of American Folk Music is all good religious and gospel music. My favorites from that side are "Judgement" by Rev. Sister Mary Nelson and "John the Revelator" by Blind Willie Johnson. I got goosebumps listening to Judgement for the first time, it was awesome and spine-tingling and Jonh the Revelator is a fantastic song, very catchy. Planning to listen to more Blind Willie Johnson atleast in 2017, got plans to listen to other albums and I've already listened to 84 folk songs

Church songs are pretty much ruined in Mexico, or at least to the few churches I've been to. I very rarely go to church, and the few times I've gone, the choir sings as if they had lost all will to live. The absolute worst of the worst.
