I've recently just finished 2 anime's and feel the need to watch more somewhere around 1-120 episodes. Being rather a much more kind of serious anime, where you get to know the characters. I've seen Death Note, and Shiki. But I'm not sure if there's anything similar. I don't know what to watch now, and I feel like I'm in a gaping hole :P

Don't watch anime , That is bull crap animation. Want real action? Read the comics from MARVEL or DC. Or better yet. SouthPark , Family Guy , Simpsons , etc.

Anime just constantly uses the same themes over and over and over. Try American animation. In American animation, different current issues are often addressed in the themes of animation.

Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) is a must-watch of anime. It has around 52 episodes I believe. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a remake of FMA03, but it follows the original source manga through better. It has 64 episodes. Zankyou no Terror is a serious anime and has the low count of 11 episodes. Although short of an anime, it's a great story. Anohana is also a short anime with 11 episodes. It's basis is a tearjerker, so don't be surprised if you end up choking up at the last episode. Erased (Japanese title: Boku Dake ga Inai Machi) is a 12 episode anime that topped the Winter 2016 charts for airing anime. It's a mystery anime with quite the good cliff hangers after each episode's end. If you need a specific genre, ask away.

Hmmmm well if you want to get to know the characters, watch Akame ga kill, it focuses mainly on the characters and their struggle.

I haven't seen either of them yet but since you said Shiki, you might like Another since from their Wikipedia synopses (plural of synopsis?) sound similar

Sorry for any spelling mistakes in advance but my laptop is border line freezing every time I try to right click for spell checker let alone opening another window to look up the correct spelling/name. Half the actual anime suggested are kind of light hearted compared to the two you posted. I would go for Black Lagoon Psychopass Dead man Wonderland Beserk - The anime ends way before the manga and the ending is more than a little messed up (Its basically dark, Violent, and destructive the only thing missing is better animation.) Attack on Titan Claymore I know I have seen some other really good ones but nothing is coming to mind atm.

Corey in The House. but in all seriousness I recommend Attack on Titan, or Dangaropa, although Dangaropa only has 13 episode its very amazing.
