As Billy Joel once said, It's sadness and euphoria. When Harvey is on, its great but that hasn't been the case in 2016 so far, He's allowed 5.12 Runs per game which is up from 2015 where he only allowed a little under 3 runs per game. Tonight he's given up 7 runs. You have to wonder, how much longer are the Mets willing to keep him up in the majors, It feels like you're just giving the other team a win every 5th day. Combine that with an offense that lives and dies by the Home Run and you have a recipe for disaster in Flushing. Sandy Alderson built a contender, but the team is flawed. Wright isn't the player he was 5 years ago, Duda who is someone who can produce 30 HR seasons is very streaky, Cespedes swings at just about everything. Daniel Murphy, love him or hate him is having a hot start and is picking up right where he left off in October in a Washington Uniform. Meanwhile Neil Walker, who is a good ballplayer in his own right has only added half a run above a replacement player (Who we assume once November rolls around will be Dilson Herrara.) Is it time to panic yet, No. But if the team doesn't come out of this slump by the Nationals series next week, I would say so. |
