so that somehow ruins overwatch for you? i saw a bunch of undertale memes when that game was popular. didnt ruin the experience of the game for me in any way.
i play those games, watch tv shows, movies and anime in private. there is no way those fans can ruin something for me unless like people have said above it is a purely online experience.
