2015 CA attendance (Chile) - 25,000 2016 CA attendance (USA) - 41,000 (and we're not in the knockout rounds yet which will all be sold out and will see the average rise past 55,000)

Mexico's fans always manage to fill up the stadiums. Surprised USA fans didn't fill it up in thr opening match. I'm guessing Copa America isn't as hyped as the world cup? I thought it was going to be but some people seem to think this is a pointless tournament.

@ddude The thread wasn't directed at you. I've heard 10 people say the same exact thing Not everything is a personal jab @mm He wasn't going to play tonight unless Argentina was in danger of not getting the full 3 points

let's clear this up about this thread 1) last year's edition was played with 12 teams 2) the host country had a population of 18 million with their national football stadium holding just under 49,000

I think what he was saying is that there were more Colombia fans than US fans.

nah just coincidences before this, didn't come vs galaxy, didn't come for his own promotion to scrim galaxy w/ a group of his friends citing injury (he played 2 days later in chicago) isn't playing tonight which is understandable

There were more Colombians in the crowd than USA fans but there could have been more.

There's always going to be a lot of South/Central American fans at the games. They specifically targeted cities to host the tournament with high populations of immigrants from those countries. Plus it is the first time that many of these people have the opportunity to see their team play, and it could be the only one.

@Harl This year's Copa America attendance is on pace to be higher than any version in the tournament's 100 year history any way you try to spin it @Lego That's a massive exaggeration. The crowd was 65/35 in favor of the USA

The Colombian fans were very stupid and got the hell bound tickets in the sun. (the side that were shown on the TV). if you saw the full stadium pan novers you could see there was a majority pro-USA stadium.

"This year's Copa America attendance is on pace to be higher than any version in the tournament's 100 year history any way you try to spin it" well considering the most populated country in south america is brazil and they're a few million people away from the us, and being the first edition with 16 teams and the 100th year anniversary of the copa, and the us have huge stadiums in every city, town, farm and mountain, there is absolutely a lot of ways i can spin this like you are now.

"Pretty sure the last thing on their mind was sitting in the sun." I was the same way when I first went there in the summer months last year. The heat/sun couldn't be THAT BAD right? I was so wrong.

If they're calling water breaks when's it 90 degrees, how will they handle Qatar when it will be more than 90? Ambulance on standby? That world cup is going to be horrible. I won't be surprised if a few people die in that heat. Those stadiums better have plenty of shade.

They've already announced that the 2022 World Cup will be held in the winter

"They've already announced that the 2022 World Cup will be held in the winter" the asian cup was played there a few years ago in january and it was still 28+ (celsius) for most games, and this was at night. there is no way in hell switching it around will matter much.

I don't know where you live, but where I am 28 degrees Celsius is not a big deal at all and would be considered nearly perfect weather And outdoor sports take place here all the time where it's regularly 90+ degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity

The average daily temperature for Qatar in December and January is 76 degrees according to the records ....I think it will be fine and that you exaggerated too much
