▬ Introduction ▬
Five Guys offers every single employee an internship as a fresh start to their career with us. During their internship, they get to know other employees and integrate into the community, as well as gain experience and knowledge, necessary for their Five Guys career. We have found it very common for Interns to have doubts regarding their internship, which is absolutely normal. For that reason, this guide has been created to help you during your Internship, and even as a higher rank. You can almost always refer to this guide unless told otherwise by a COO (Chief Operations Officer).
▬ Becoming an Intern ▬
To become an Intern at Five Guys, it is required that you attend an interview and pass the interview, as well. All interviews are held at the interview center, which can be found on Five Guy's game places.. The interview center is open at all times, but interviews are only held during the scheduled times, or whenever a Assistant Manager or above decides to hold an unscheduled session. It is recommended you are there at least 15 minutes before the posted time so you have time to prepare for the interview. If you are not in the group, you will be denied an interview.
► Waiting for your turn
While waiting for an interview, you must remain seated in the seat that was appointed to you with proper conduct at all times. You must follow the Lobby Managers’, Supervisors’, Interviewers’, or Executives’ instructions, or you may be denied an interview.
► Interview
When your turn comes, an Interviewer (a Assistant Manager or above) will ask you to follow him/her into the Interview Room. Please stand in front of the desk he/she picks. Your interviewer will ask you some questions, which will determine if you fail or pass. It is recommended, but not mandatory, for you to use full grammar, correct spelling and appropriate formal Five Guys clothes, as it’ll cause a better impression of you to the Interviewer.
► Post-Interview
After your interview, you will be notified within seventy-two hours of your result. Please make sure your privacy settings allow “All users” to message you.
▬ Intern Duties ▬
As an intern, you are expected to remain active, visiting the Home Store regularly.
While at the Home Store, you should go around the store gaining experience and learning where everything is. If an Assistant Manager or above asks you to do something else, you’re expected to follow his/her orders.
▬ Conduct ▬
Five Guys has many advanced rules and policies to ensure our operationality. Not following these rules and policies may lead to a demotion. Some of our rules that employees most commonly don't follow are:
Appropriate Language - While at a Five Guys place or in the group wall, you should never swear or use inappropriate words, phrases or sentences.
Employee-Customer Relationship - While talking with a Customer, you should always treat him/her with respect and formally, as either Sir or Ma'am, disregarding your relationship outside Five Guys.
Respect - You should always treat everyone, Customers, fellow Interns and higher ranked employees with respect, courtesy and politeness.
Professionalism - You should always act professional at all times, even if there aren't any customers around. You should also NEVER lie, as lying usually leads to an immediate demotion.
▬ Ranking Up ▬
After you're integrated in Five Guys's Staff Community and understand how to do your job well, as well as gained experience from your internship, you may want to rank up to Cashier/Frycook. To rank up, you must be your current position for at least 6 days. It is necessary that you attend and pass a training session. To be trained, you must contact a Assistant Manager or above.
After training, you will be notified of your result within seventy-two hours. Please make sure your privacy settings allow “All users” to message you.
▬ Conclusion ▬
We wish you luck with your Five Guys internship! If you need any assistance, do not hesitate in contacting a Chief Operational Officer.
Best regards,
Five Guys Operations Department
