I know that I still haven't gotten around to doing all the collabs from the last one; I'm thinking that I'll make them not collabs anymore and just write and post them myself and give them to better hosts to host. Regardless, I thought of an idea for an ISRP, based off of an idea that I had for incorporating into an RP series of mine from a few years ago based, in turn, off of the Shannara books by Terry Brooks. Anyway, the idea is as follows - an ISRP in which, instead of playing a character, you play as an entire bloodline of characters, going sequentially down through the generations. It may sound odd at first and you may not get it, but please, bear with me. In the book series that this idea is loosely inspired by, there's an Elven King called Jerle Shannara who got a magic sword. The magic sword was enchanted such that only his descendants could use it, and then a few hundred years later one of his descendants, Shea Ohmsford needs to use it to defeat the Warlock Lord. In book two Shea's grandson, Wil, uses the magic Elfstones to stop a Demon invasion of the Westlands, and in the third book Wil's son and daughter whose names escape me find and destroy an ancient book of evil magic. The series essentially continues like that, with breaks of up to a century between books but always following the one family pretty much with some exceptions I think in the prequels but that's it. What I'm thinking I'll do is something similar, but as an ISRP and starting from the very beginning, when the first member of the family became an adventurer. I don't know how well this idea will play as an actual ISRP, though, nor do I have any idea how it's actually going to be run, but here it is nonetheless for you guys to add input to at your own volition.

Oh my boi, Tim, do you know the historic film and TV series Roots? If not and you want to, Google it or I could explain it. But, basically, this idea sounds a lot like it and I would be extremely willing to join. Though I've never read Shannara and I have no idea who Terry Brooks is, sorry.

If both the host and the ISRPer are active and are involved, it could work. The main problem that I could see happening is somebody getting bored then the whole family thing never occurring, but of course it depends on the participants.

I've never heard of Roots, but I'll research it when possible.

This thing would be incredibly hard to execute.

I know. I don't know when to do the generational changes as well, and that could make it even more difficult to execute. That's why I posted about it in advance of writing it; to see if anyone had suggestions.

You could keep the whole concept of the enchanted sword without doing generation changes, but where's the fun in that? I would make a major quest (with maybe a few little quests in between) for each generation, and make the plotline so that it influences the future for the next generation in some way. Of course, I haven't read the series so that might conflict with it somehow.

The second paragraph was mostly a synopsis of the series which inspired my idea, though it won't take place in the same world, so no need to limit us to that in our brainstorming.

The first book was written and published some thirty or forty something years ago. The most recent book was written and published earlier this year.

Tim, you know they made a show called Shannara Chronicles. Nother exactly accurate to the books, but it's good.
