I've noticed that a majority of music I listen to is extremely leftist/anarchist despite the fact that I'm not a liberal or an anarchist. I just like it for some reason. I think it's because even though I don't necessarily agree with the point behind it, it has a clear-cut real meaning that the songwriter is extremely passionate about. I sing along to the songs when I play them and public and people have misjudged me as a liberal/anarchist simply based off of the music that I like, so I wanted to know if anyone else had similar experiences. not really [2] i mean, i could probably name a song or two by my favorite artists that has themes i don't necessarily agree with (as i know at least two of my favorite singers are fairly agnostic and it does creep into their music from time to time) but i usually either don't listen to/dislike those songs for other reasons, or i like them and choose to ignore the fact i don't totally agree with the lyrics.

I can stand music that has differing political views than mine. I mean, I do listen to a lot of thrash metal, which tends to be left-wing, although I am a right-wing monarchist. I do not listen to music which disagrees with my religious views, however, like, no Satanic or anti-religious music.

All the time mang. Point in case: Nightwish's latest album is all about Darwinism and Atheism whereas I am a Christian.

I had no idea you were a Christian, tahu. Also, I could stand those kind of themes, so should I check out the new Nightwish album?

Also, despite being a fairly peaceful person, I do enjoy songs with violent themes. Like Bad Bad Things by Andrew Jackson Jihad or Werewolf Gimmick by the Mountain Goats. I think most of the music I listen to conflicts with my moral code. I have a theory that the reason i enjoy it so much is because it's so different to what I'm used to. Like I live my entire life in my head thinking the way I think, so I don't really need anybody else to reiterate it to me through a song, but when someone else explains a different set of ideas through music it's more interesting to me because it introduces a new pattern of thinking. R.E.M. is probably the most conflicting. I really really enjoy the music and I can go along with some of the meanings written into the songs but Michael Stipe is someone who ive only agreed with on rare occasions.

Chichester Fortescue (12 August 1777 – 25 November 1826) briefly served as an Irish Member of Parliament.[1] He was son of Thomas Fortescue and father of Thomas Fortescue, 1st Baron Clermont, Chichester Parkinson-Fortescue, 1st Baron Carlingford and Harriet Angelina Fortescue.[2] He was elected to the Irish House of Commons for Hillsborough in January 1800 but lost his seat when the Parliament of Ireland was abolished by the Act of Union 1800.[3]

Sometimes i'll find myself listening to Satanist or anti-Christian music. I disagree with the lyrics but there's rebellion and often passion behind them

Ucuetis is a Celtic god who, along with his consort Bergusia, was venerated at Alesia in Burgundy. The divine couple are named on inscriptions of the Romano-Celtic period, and an image of a divine couple has been found on the same site, the male figure bearing a hammer, the female appearing as a goddess of prosperity. This image, if it is indeed of the two deities, may indicate that Ucuetis was a patron god of craftsmen. This may be confirmed by the discovery of an epigraphic dedication to the couple, inscribed on a bronze vase and found in the cellar of a huge building: rubbish found in this underground room was made of entirely of scraps of bronze and iron and appears to have been part of the stock of metalsmiths. It is possible that this room was a sanctuary to the local crafts-deities of Alesia, and the superstructure itself may have a craft hall for metalworkers. Monument to Ucuetis in the archeological site of Alesia in Alise-Sainte-Reine, Burgundy. One inscription was discovered on Mont Auxois, the location of ancient Alesia.[1] Another inscription in gaulish language that was found close to a building that was probably a smithy carries the following text: Martialis Dannotali ieuru Ucuete sosin celicnon, etic gobedbi dugiiontiio Ucuetin in […] Alisia. — Inscription from Alise-Sainte-Reine / Alesia[2] Translation: Martialis, son of Dannotalos dedicates this keliknon (small temple?) to Ucuetis - together with the smiths, who (worship) Ucuetis in Alesia.

@Enderman, It's a pretty decent album, if a bit on the play it safe side. There are two songs that are pointedly anti-religious, Weak Fantasy and Your's is an Empty Hope. Weak Fantasy I don't like at all, but Your's is an Empty Hope has some cool parts. The Outro to My Walden is my favorite part on the album: https://www.roblox.com/Nightwish-My-Walden-Outro-item?id=255009199 To answer your question though, it's worth definitely worth listening to.

An interesting question I don't think I've ever thought about before. I guess because I'm areligious, bands that have religious-inspired ideals conflict with that view. Of course, that includes bands with a satanic outlook, as well as the odd Christian metal band in my repertoire like Stryper or Sacrament.

I sometimes listen to black metal, which tends to be quite aggressive, and anti-everythingthereisontheearth. I do like concept albums most of all, however, such as "Death Came Through a Phantom Ship", by Carach Angren. It's black metal, without the typical black metal attitude (concerning the members).
