"Do not upload or use content that is owned and/or has a copyright, patent or trademark without permission of the owner" - ROBLOX Rules of Conduct
It's already against the rules for users to upload content that infringes upon another’s Intellectual Property Rights. I don't think that the rule is easily enforceable unless ROBLOX manually pre-filters everything that users upload. However, ROBLOX does have an Intellectual Property Policy that provides the means for people to contact ROBLOX's copyright agent to request that content be removed.
"ROBLOX will remove without notice any content that violates another’s Intellectual Property Rights upon request of the rightful owner"
As for the whole lawsuit thing, Cinemark is seeking monetary and injunctive relief, which is more than just the removal of the violating content. I'm assuming that their injunctive relief would require ROBLOX to prevent users from using any more content that violates Cinemark's IPR. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't think that could be effectively done without ROBLOX manually pre-filtering everything. Please correct me if I'm wrong about anything I have assumed or said. |
